i was conductor on this train along with my regular assigned engineer. it was a real treat for us both. its cool to see the action from the outside of the cab sometimes.
NS always seems like they are pretty generous with thier speed limits for trains after the FRA rates the track. And I doubt an NS engineer would speed there too.
Great catch Heath!!!! And that train sure had a nice touch with the pv's, I thought it was going to be all amtrak cars! Some of those pv's were even on 3751's excursion to san diego in september last year!
From a distance, P42's look awful plain, but up close they're complicated machines under that simple shell, nice catch, wish I could see some Amtrak more in Cincinnati.
very nice.

OK first thought was why they needed 12,000hp for this train, then I saw the length of it! WOW!
Awesome shot! 5*****!

so you work for Norfolk Southern? I was wondering since Amtrak doesn't run this route how they were going to find a crew...
GSMR1702 2 years ago
there was an amtrak crew on board but since they arent qualified on the s line, n.s. had to furnish a crew. i was more than happy to take this one.
