In one of the trailers for Skyward sword i saw there was a human character who looked suspiciously like this Owl. I heard a rumor that the character i am referring to is in fact Links father. I am not sure if this is all true but seeing as Skyward sword is supposed to be first in the Zelda timeline that makes for some pretty interesting thoughts.
All I know is that he's an annoying owl that has that annoying way of having you just mash that 'A' button until you click 'Yes' by accident when he asks you if you want to hear it again
I really don't care if he's a sage in hiding... I still find him horribly annoying, and I still try to shoot him with my slingshot / boomerang / arrows if he's on a tree in the distance. xD
I think hes the king of hyrule. Sorry for bumping an old ass video, but think about it. In Wind Waker, the boat turns out to be the king of Hyrule. It could be the incarnation of the kings soul.

And while it is possible, you have to account for the fact that the lighthearted comment might not have been a pun, in which case Kaepora may be the incarnation of another Sage and not necessarily connected to Light, and further that he may be older even than Rauru. Plausible, but I'd keep the case open.

All three are the same. The thing though is that in MM it's known as "owl" in LOZ:LA it didn't say what it's name was, but if you think about it all three "TALK" right?
He is the physical manifestation of Rauru outside of the Light Realm. That's what I think anyway. Look at the tannish part of his face, it is in the exact shape of Rauru's head.
I've always liked delving into some of the finer, unexplained mysteries of the zelda games - like how the designers of Majora's Mask confirmed that the tree you see at the beginning of that game is really the Deku Butler's Son who left him a long time ago, for example - so yeah I'll definitely humor this...

I'm sorry, but KG is the 2nd-most annoying character in OOT. Mostly because you don't have a choice but to talk to him! I mean, you know what you're doing, and where you're going, minding your own business, and all of a sudden BAM, you're forced to slog through cryptic BS spouted by an owl.

kaepora gaebora is raurus friend who was quested to guide Link. and link who later is in termina, a completly different land next to hyrule, is verry lost in that world so the kind owl guides him there to. man that K.G is a verry nice guy huh...
I'm backing the Rauru theory for several reasons: The Gossip stone theory
Rauru knew Links name when they first met
Rauru wasn't with the other sages party at the end
Raurus robes and the owls feathers look similar, Kaepora Gaebora's robes

Why would he have to turn himself in a owl to appear before Link? The other sages don't have to. It claims he's the reincarnation of an ancient sage. Which means he used to be a sage, died, and was reborn an owl. Rauru isn't dead, least not at the time.
Keep in mind when he said that, you were young Link (correct me if I'm wrong). That would mean you haven't met Rauru in the future. When you return the Master Sword to the pedestal, you return to the moment in the past when you pulled it out.
Kaepora/Rauru may not have known of the time-traveling qualities of the Master Sword, althogh he seemed to know that you would have been frozen in time.
As for why, if they are one and the same, he can become another figure and not the other sages, the others didn't know they were sages until the dugeon was rid of the monster that was deafening their awakening call.

Exactly! I remember I read on Wikipedia that when it said "Kaepora Gaebora could just be an incarnation of the other sages," but we already saw those other sages in the real world (as in not in the chamber of sages, light temple, sacred realm), so it obviously points to Rauru :)
Another myth is that the the owl in ocarina of time was originally the sage of the sky temple which was removed from the final cut of the game. so im guessing they kept the owl in the game as just a character that tells you stuff you already know lol =P
Ya, Navi is definitely my most hated. Every 2 seconds she's like "HEY" and "LISTEN" and says some pointless crap (after you have beaten the game once, or even twice and possibly even 3 times). And the thing that really bothers me is that you can't skip through it :'(

It just seems to me that if they wanted the two to be one and the same, Rauru would have revealed who he was when Link first saw him.

Actually, when you're Adult Link, there's one time you see the owl, when you're in the Spirit Temple, I don't remember very well.

You get to see him as a spirit when you're an adult. He has his own grave and everything.

Actually you can see KG as old Link when you learn the Requiem of Spirit. He is flying above you when you play the song.

Hmmm...i never thought of it like that?? i actually heard that rumor from the gossip stones too, and i never put those two clues together the lighthearted and sage clues????, actually if you think about it Rauru is the only sage you really dont see that much throughout the game which doesnt make since cuz all of the sages play an important role in this game one way or another and not to mention he kinda looks like rauru too cuz hes brown and so is Rauru and their both wise i guess you could say!

Exactly! I remember I read on Wikipedia that when it said "Kaepora Gaebora could just be an incarnation of the other sages," but we already saw those other sages in the real world (as in not in the chamber of sages, light temple, sacred realm), so it obviously points to Rauru :)

Another myth is that the the owl in ocarina of time was originally the sage of the sky temple which was removed from the final cut of the game. so im guessing they kept the owl in the game as just a character that tells you stuff you already know lol =P

There is a reason why The Legend of Zelda has the word "Legend". Many things can be quite difficult to explain in a Zelda game.

As a huge Zelda fan, I never noticed he played such a mysterious role. I just thought he was a fucking owl.
Then again, I was more of the mainstream adventurer in Ocarina of time, I never cared for side quest that much.

No, I don't think so, but he showed up in the area right before the 1st temple. You learn a new song when he leaves, I think.

My sister is a huge bird-lover and she loved the owl. Kaepora is actually one of my favourite characters.

Ya, Navi is definitely my most hated. Every 2 seconds she's like "HEY" and "LISTEN" and says some pointless crap (after you have beaten the game once, or even twice and possibly even 3 times). And the thing that really bothers me is that you can't skip through it :'(
