@USAmilitarypower They probably just turned off the safety/speed governor or what ever it is; often referred to as "the Nanny" by car enthusiast cause how it limits a vehicles top speed. With it disabled, these tanks can go 50+ mph, bit not without risking damage to it's power-train.

My dad was 3rd ACR when we lived in Bliss. When we moved to Cairo, Egypt he was part of the M1A1 TAFT(technical assistance field team) which assisted the Egyptian Land Forces in fielding the M1's. It was a pilot run at that point in 1993 and I think it's still running til this day. Cool vid!

@cobrabase finally somebody who knows something. it does have a turbine engine. it has a limiter on it that only allows it to run about 55 60 mph making the m1a1 tank the fastest military tank out there. but with out it, it can go upwards to 80 mph but the vibrations would shake the tank apart. if you dont agree with me. go read your military pubs ppl. ohwait u cant cuz more likely your all just wish u joined the military

@usmcmisfit The Abrams top speed is 45 mph with the governor on. If not for the governor, the absolute top speed would be 60 mph, but it would tear the Powertrain apart. The tank would not shake apart.
