CPS is corrupt. My little brother was taken out of the home for an incident of domestic violence, which is both illegal on CPS' part and wrong on our parent's part. However, my brother was not abused or neglected. Quite the opposite. Even after doing everything asked of them, CPS still wouldn't let my brother come home. It's been four years. At this point, he is almost five years old and I haven't seen him since Christmas 2009. CPS needs to be stopped. They're taking the wrong children.
I sincerely hope you took legal action about this. Both against the men who abused your child and against the people who took him. I am so so sorry. This was NOT right.

But have even told me that there are no charges against me. Plus Hunter was fine until they took him 2 days after they took custody from me he went into liver failure.

i hate CPS! they are horrible! tried to take my son away because my husbands ex was jealous of us being happy. my husband had to move out of the house for 6 months and the whole thing lasted a year. i had nightmares the whole time they would take my son and he would be abused by so called foster families. im sorry your nightmare came true! i cant imagine your loss...

I know all to well the horror of DHS, I aged out of DHS custody. I have a son who was in and out of mental hospitals, SEVERAL dr's stated several times that my son was bipolar, adhd. I could not give him the help he needed so I was stupid enough to ask for help, I ended up being forced to terminate my rights to him.

@HiCapacity child services gets any call from a pissed off person or a nieghbor that doesnt like you or someone who wants revenge, then they get a shoe in to get the money they get for removing a child,brets reason on documents for the removal was "failure to thrive" which is a text book symptom of his disease.Look up adoption incentive program CPS gets between 5-7 k per kid removed.

We had a doctor to replace the bad doc with, we also had it approved by his primary pediatrician, so why the very next day after we told the bad docs office we weren't going to be seeing him anymore was CPS here to get Bret and take him back to the doc we fired?

@njnolan1 because he was sick he was skinny, his illness caused fat absorption very difficult. CPS is child services.Even though it was a known symptom of his illness a very common one, they still used it as a reason to take him.
@flowerchildluna CPS is never liable they have a "good faith" ruling which a judge grants them when they screw up which makes them immune to any sort of legal action against them from families.The judge basically says to CPS "you were wrong but you thought you were doing the right thing so you wont get in trouble for it"
@flowerchildluna Bret's story is much less agonizing than some of the other children's who have been "saved" by CPS.Yes they should be but they won't be.They are almost immune to any form of legal liability.

Well I was lucky they didn't take mine.They had no grounds to and I flat out said I'll work with you for what ever you feel needs to be done,but try to take my kids for NO reason and you will pay.They didn't try to take my kids after that.It was all because my oldest who has some issues told them I slapped him.Which was a false statement.If you look up how many children have been harmed/abused/murdered/molested/raped.....the stats are horrific.

@Aviationnation10 we didnt we crammed from that friday til tuesday when we had to be in court, crazy thing was it was like they took him on a friday in hopes we wouldn't be able to gather any evidence on the weekend, so we researched and filled out forms all weekend and went to get statements from all his doctors monday until we had no where else to get statements
@embluvya no it isnt, CPS has its laws thought out VERY clearly apparently they are aware how bad people want to hurt them because the laws are that assault on a case worker is a bigger crime than an assault on any other person.

@aslgeeklover its nice to hear someone who knows something about the disease I had no idea what it was until I had bret now I know so much about it and my heart goes out to kids with it, Bret was such a happy little boy, it was amazing that he went through all those surgeries and still smiled and laughed, I was amazed by him.

However, I don't understand what the purpose was to point out the sexual identity of his temporary caretakers. There is no need to include that information. The system is who I have the issue with. Your right, I myself was harrased for no reason, because 2 neighbors thought it was awful because my son, who was 3 at the time didn't get to play outside. The point of me saying this is simply, I had 2 daughters also, 1 a newborn the other 13 months. I demanded CPS to come to my home because they were told, my girls were bruised all over. I proved their "ASSES" wrong I took their diapers off and said "WHERE IN THE HELL" are the bruises. The "DUMB BITCH" pointed at my daughters "BIRTH MARK"!
Another thing that bothers me is that people wanna go on about how these case workers are "saving" kids out of the goodness of their hearts, and if this is so, what are incentives for? Why on earth would someone be given a perk for destroying a home? If they were such good people shouldn't a salary be enough? Cops don't get incentives for arresting criminals why the hell do case workers get them? Why cant child abuse be handled accordingly by law enforcement instead of this botched system?
CPS, in a general way, is the most incompetent organization in the United States. Kids that should be investigated aren't, kids that are fine get taken away from their families without justification or rational reason. CPS workers, for the most part, automatically see the parents as neglectful or abusers when they investigate a report, and that is awful. Granted, they see a lot of things, but some kids are just sick and showing signs of their illness, and CPS workers are not medical workers.
CPS is the only court cases where heresay is admissable too, and if you do minimal research on where this organization places kids you will find MANY cases where the foster homes they put them in were places where children were murdered haneously, look at Marcus fiesel, its such a roulette system all so some bitch case worker can pat herself on the back and reap the rewards of destroying happy homes. Then heres another statistic for you.70% of prison inmates are former foster children.Good Job?
You know whats really sad summer, you'd think that a system who could ravage American families would have to provide the highest standard of evidence, yet in a CPS case absolutely NONE is necessary, omission is completely common by case workers in a court of law and if anything doesn't benefit their case it will be omitted , there are no standards when it comes to protecting the most important thing in the universe.

This is a huge problem, look up "adoption incentive programs" or CPS corruption.Check statistics where you live, if the report rate is 100% substantiated cases proven when reported it means every call CPS gets is proven in court and this is a CLEAR sign something is wrong.That means if a pissed off neighbor or co worker or random fool off the street calls CPS on you, you will be fighting to get your kid back.

He came home with pnemonia which he fought and fought but it killed him in the end.80% of cystic fibrosis kids die this way so preventing it was key, it took 4 days for the state to give him something we prevented him from catching for years.They also took him to a doc we fired which prescribed him antibiodics he was allergic to.

the sad thing is in one state a CP child went without seeing a doc for over a year and home health quit going to the home and OCS was envolved yet they didnt see it as important that this child got NO MEDICAL care and lost over 30 pounds and died..Even though they were aware of the situation, the kid died and they jailed the mother but they knew the circumstances and never checked this home or child..Its not as easy to sell a CP kid..SAD!!
This breaks my heart. I'm so sorry for your loss. I work in a maternity unit as a nurse and when CPS gets involved I often wonder how exactly it is they come up with some of their decisions. I also have my own children with special needs. I almost had an organizations get involved when they had no understanding and no business doing so. Thank you, it's difficult because it a taboo and people who have never dealt with CPS and a sick child really don't know what its like, we did'nt know until we had Bret.I would like to make it clear that we have 4 children and not even one of them was under investigation, only my ill infant. I don't think there is anything worse than the loss of a child and this whole CPS thing only added to the pain and as a mother I won't ever be whole until I am with him.We appreciate all the support.
Hey Brandy, I was just watching this again for the first time in a while. I haven't been able to get sweet Bret off my mind all day. I just want to say again how sorry I am for your loss and for the traumas you had to go through while he was here.
Thank you, if this could save one family from this horrible fate it would give some degree of comfortto us. Nothing will bring him back but it may help save others. I think raising awareness is key here because it's not something people think about until it's too late and if you have a sick child thats health can deteriote in a matter of days then these are things you need to know. Not a day goes by that I don't wonder what may have happened if I'd have known then what I know now.
I am going thru the exact same thing. My son was diagnosed last week with Hodgkins Lymphoma, and CPS has now been in our life for three horrible years. What was noted in the sidebar is ABSOLUTE TRUTH: "They don't only prey on single mom's with no money, they are taking children so fast they are running out of underpriviliged families"

They did the same thing to me when my daughter Abby was 2 she had just turned 2 and they took her from me. I fought to get her back and i finally did. my daughter has pulminary hypertension and a lung disease of unknow origin along with kidney reflux. My husband is going to college to become a child protective service worker because he hopes maybe he can make a difference on how kids are taken away our daughter should never have been taken away along with your son Bret.
Thats wonderful,my husband had gotten his bachelors and masters before our son passed and intended on stopping there but is now starting law school to try to prevent the overzealous removal of sick children. Most people don't know that they can have someone who knows nothing about health come into thier home and remove thier child because they show symptoms of thier illnesses and they can do all this with NO PROOF at all. Just a case worker who has no idea what the hell she's doing.

I know all to well the horror of DHS, I aged out of DHS custody. I have a son who was in and out of mental hospitals, SEVERAL dr's stated several times that my son was bipolar, adhd. @HiCapacity child services gets any call from a pissed off person or a nieghbor that doesnt like you or someone who wants revenge, then they get a shoe in to get the money they get for removing a child,brets reason on documents for the removal was "failure to thrive" which is a text book symptom of his disease.Look up adoption incentive program CPS gets between 5-7 k per kid removed.

We had a doctor to replace the bad doc with, we also had it approved by his primary pediatrician, so why the very next day after we told the bad docs office we weren't going to be seeing him anymore was CPS here to get Bret and take him back to the doc we fired?

@flowerchildluna CPS is never liable they have a "good faith" ruling which a judge grants them when they screw up which makes them immune to any sort of legal action against them from families.The judge basically says to CPS "you were wrong but you thought you were doing the right thing so you wont get in trouble for it"

I am truly sorry for your loss. I have 2 special needs children and I would be totally destroyed to lose either one of them. However, I don't understand what the purpose was to point out the sexual identity of his temporary caretakers. There is no need to include that information. The system is who I have the issue with. It is not safe to take a child with special needs out of a secure home without concrete evidence. I am deeply hurt that you , your husband , and that precious baby paid for it.

Your right, I myself was harrased for no reason, because 2 neighbors thought it was awful because my son, who was 3 at the time didn't get to play outside. Why on earth would someone be given a perk for destroying a home? If they were such good people shouldn't a salary be enough? CPS, in a general way, is the most incompetent organization in the United States. Kids that should be investigated aren't, kids that are fine get taken away from their families without justification or rational reason. CPS workers, for the most part, automatically see the parents as neglectful or abusers when they investigate a report, and that is awful. Granted, they see a lot of things, but some kids are just sick and showing signs of their illness, and CPS workers are not medical workers.

This is a huge problem, look up "adoption incentive programs" or CPS corruption.Check statistics where you live, if the report rate is 100% substantiated cases proven when reported it means every call CPS gets is proven in court and this is a CLEAR sign something is wrong.That means if a pissed off neighbor or co worker or random fool off the street calls CPS on you, you will be fighting to get your kid back.

He came home with pnemonia which he fought and fought but it killed him in the end.80% of cystic fibrosis kids die this way so preventing it was key, it took 4 days for the state to give him something we prevented him from catching for years.They also took him to a doc we fired which prescribed him antibiodics he was allergic to.

the sad thing is in one state a CP child went without seeing a doc for over a year and home health quit going to the home and OCS was envolved yet they didnt see it as important that this child got NO MEDICAL care and lost over 30 pounds and died..Even though they were aware of the situation, the kid died and they jailed the mother but they knew the circumstances and never checked this home or child..Its not as easy to sell a CP kid..SAD!!

This breaks my heart. I'm so sorry for your loss. I work in a maternity unit as a nurse and when CPS gets involved I often wonder how exactly it is they come up with some of their decisions. I also have my own children with special needs. I almost had an organizations get involved when they had no understanding and no business doing so. I think raising awareness is key here because it's not something people think about until it's too late and if you have a sick child thats health can deteriote in a matter of days then these are things you need to know. I am going thru the exact same thing. My son was diagnosed last week with Hodgkins Lymphoma, and CPS has now been in our life for three horrible years. Sometimes I blame myself because I was so ignorant about this organization, I feel like as a mother I should've made sure I knew what they were about, and because of my ignorance I will never see my youngest little angel become a man or get married, go to prom, have children of his own.If I'd have known then maybe I could've stopped it.

Please honey, do not blame yourself. "IF" (a big "if" that is) if you were abusive or neglectful...but you were not. Trust that you ARE a great mother, and never stop informing people of the dangers of CPS! This is the problem: This "LEGAL kidnapping" is a national EPIDEMIC, and too many ppl get self righteous and veangeful by calling CPS on anyone and everyone, not knowing or caring that it has its roots in Nazi germany, CPS NEVER makes anything better, EVER!

Thank you, :D its difficult to not be bitter but I do my best. I am just appaulled by what these people are allowed to do and never held accountable for could you message me through here I'd love to hear your story, I fear that people who go through this don't tell anyone because of shame and they are afraid people will automatically think "oh oyu had to do something for them to take yor child" and this is only paving the road for this organization to keep these ridiculous practices.

I feel good knowing it may help someone else, no child should have to deal with this nor should any family.I thinking having a sick child is alot to deal with on it's own and to do what these people did to Bret, I don't know how they sleep at night. I want to see one of his case workers with thier children just so I can ask "what is it like to enjoy and love your child and know his safe and alive? that's what you stole from me." I dont think it would matter to her though.

Amen, Exactly!!! See, that's one of the harder issues to deal with- knowing that these ppl's consciences have become seared by perpetual sin; hearts hardened thru sins' deceit...their souls are not capable of 'feeling' remorse for their evil proceedings.
Yet, we are called to love those who hate us; whom neglectfully deal treacherously with us...to Pray for them, this is so hard. Yet we must. For one, if we dont, then we become LIKE them. 2: We neglect to see EVERYTHING YHWH forgives of us. <33

That is the problem with this, nobody wants to see it because it hurts to face it, but when it happens to you, you cant turn a blind eye anymore, I know how you feel though, I never in my wildest dreams would've thought something like this would happen to our family. We have 4 kids ranging from 15 to 3 and until bret we had never dealt with CPS, I would have never known what they are capable of because I can't imagine someone willingly hurting a child, I regret not knowing everyday of my life
