i don't think a lot of you realize that not everyone's from iowa, minnesota, colorado, etc. just because i live in colorado and half my driving lessons were how to prevent accidents like this from happening on icy roads, doesn't mean others were. sometimes freak storms happen where people have probably never had to drive on icy roads. and mother nature sometimes wins even with the people who are icy road driving connoisseurs. food for thought, closed-minded motherfuckers.

People always think slamming on the breaks works. Best thing to do is let the pedals go and counter turn. Your going to slide no matter what. In some cases you can gain some control by not hitting the breaks. Or don't go 50mph on ice and expect to stop.

When you lock up your brakes the car will follow the trajectory it was on, no matter which way you turrn your wheels.

Most of the crashes I see here are a result of that BRAKE MISTAKE !

If you car begins to slide ( usually caused by touching the brake at the wrong time)

simply get you foot off of the brake and the accelerator ....and STEER THE CAR.

It will follow the front wheels if the brake isn't on.

Look at 1:50 - wheels are turned out but brake is on. BANG !

TRICK FOR TWO REAR WHEEL DRIVE VEHICALS.

If you vehical has rear wheel drive and is an automatic here is the best trick. Did you know you can change gears while driving in an automatic? Yes and if you gear down when slowing down the back of your vehicle will never try to catch the front. Also by gearing down you decrease to stopping distance on ice dramticaly.
