  • Oh my god, I am almost in tears for Locke. Poor dude!

  • I dont got the Marshal rage. What to do. :/

  • Looking at this scene again I wonder if you're suppose to go to the "Herb" house first then go to Rachel's second for the full story :/.

  • And! "Touched" is not a mistranslation. It's a euphemism for "crazy" or "mentally impaired. It just like if you were to call someone "special," meaning "special ed."

  • Sequined, Mr. Bailey, means that an article of clothing has sequins on them. Sequins [SEE-kwin] are those disc shaped beads that are really shiny and look like scales when you layer them. I find them rather tawdry and do not know why anyone would were anything with sequins to an opera. DIAMONDS! YOU WEAR DIAMONDS TO AN OPERA!

  • Sequined pretty much means glittery and bedazzled

  • @Swepaat if only I got that far I played crisis core I got sad when zack died (my ps1 disk got messed up)

  • i was 6 or 7 at ff 7 when the famous scene happened on my screen. it got me a bit sad, just a bit.

  • So she forgets everything...but remembers her parents. Typical woman, my ass she has "amnesia", she just doesn't want to marry some punk who is responsible for letting her fall off a bridge.

  • @Maverick6429 That "punk" was not responsible for Rachel falling off the bridge. How can you even say that? Did we watch the same clip? Rachel risked her own life to save Locke from falling off the bridge. How do you get that to mean punk resposible for girl falling off bridge?

  • @Knottx

I was just joking dude :p

  • @Maverick6429 aha maybe use /sarcasm /irony /joke next time? Kinda hard to notice if someone is joking on the internetz. xD

  • Your first group was pretty much who I used in this sequence of events. Especially with Sabine fire dance and edgars flash! Give celes the earrings and Locke the genji glove and you have a powerhouse of a team:) I hate gau by the way...he's annoying:( I don't care how good his rage attacks are X(

  • Play Nier, us will cry like a newborn at even te second ending (out of 4)

  • Mother 3 is also really emotional.

  • Am I the only one kinda creeped out by the fact that Locke has his dead ex-girlfriend's corpse preserved on a bed in an old man's basement? I mean, bargaining is one thing, but that's just... I don't know what to call it. Stalking beyond the grave?

  • touched as in fairy touched, meaning insane.

  • I never had any tears coming out during that scene, but video games can't really affect me emotionally so whatever. However, I will admit that out of all games that strive for "realistically human" characters, this one probably does it best, and this game's women are probably at the top as far as that goes among others of their gender.

Wish 21-year-old Lara Croft some luck in trying to dethrone them there! Oh, and ironically the Tomb Raider series is now owned by Square Enix...

  • Sequin: pr.: see-qwin. Those flat, shiny, plastic beads. Think '20's flapper girl. ;)

  • @elderdragonice no.... your thinking about gg allin

  • The Rachel and Locke story is truly the saddest moment in all of Final Fantasy, for me. Screw Aeris, man.

FF7 is a close second to 6 for me, but when I saw that emo white haired goth chick impale her, my first thought was "Oh thank _god_". There, I said it, and I'm not sorry.

  • @Eldeecue sephiroth is a boy

  • @Eldeecue So it wasnt just me who was glad she got implaled xD.

  • @Eldeecue well this tells me your of the Intelligence impaired, or in technical terms, retarded

  • and I gotta say this...feet first, first time! Otherwise you go into a coma!

  • lol, sequines are like rhinestones, except for ladies dresses, not for rhinestone cowboys...and here it amuses me how the word 'assassins' can be broken down to ass ass ins. very amusing!

  • He's a bit touched... in the head. Touched with madness is what they mean. XD

  • you don't know what sequined is? Its a dress with sequins on it... see comment under mine.

  • Sequins. those little plastic shiny things that usually are octagonal and colored. They were very popular for dresses around the 50s

  • Um, why does Rachel have an enormous Snidely Whiplash mustache?

  • @nevermore1000 She doesn't, it's her her closed eyes.

  • HOLY SH*T my buffer bar just FLEW on this video like i click this vid and boom the buffer bar flies to the end (it usually does that but not THIS quick)

  • Aw crap, "Gau" is starting to sound okay. And it even makes sense if you think of "au" as in autism or aura.

  • nice family guy references.

  • Sequined = C- k- win -ed

  • Wow. That was a relief, wasn't it? For a second there, I'd thought the American translation for this game was done by 4Kids. Either that, or they changed how Rachel died while translating it (it ain't too hard; just insert Rachel's sprite into the scene and have her say a few lines). But in all seriousness, I don't know; it could be either one.

Maybe FFVI was dubbed by 4Kids.

  • @REALmikegordan Ew 4kids.

  • Oh my God HC, You had me rolling at the "But I like looking at her through the window while she's getting dressed and pretending she's someone I don't know." Probably my favorite line of yours of all time.

  • nice dude, 2 minutes into the video and im already rofl. THUMBS UP

  • haha, sequins are shiny bits of plastic basically =P

Being a girl is fun, we get all the shiny things =P

  • one thing that the game doesn't tell is that Locke purposed to Rachel and said yes. but that was the day before they went on their trip and she fell.

  • @cecilmaster I thought that "She Said Yes! We were gonna..." Was a fairly strong hint 8P

  • @supershadey09

but still why bring this up here?

  • @supershadey09

    now THERES a thought....

im a little torn here :\

i'll have to go with Mother 3 for now...

  • Never played more saddening game, eh? Try Mother 3.

  • Sequins! amg HC you are SUCH a dude. <3

  • omg u uploaded this on meh birthday

  • This is hella late but "sequined" means " to be covered in sequins". Sequins are the little shiny, sparkly, round, flat, scale-like, plastic things that are used to make clothes shimmer.

  • 6:58, I loled.

  • Plus the Telstar is a cheap reference to a song which was played by a band called the tornadoes! The British band muse, the lead singer Matt Belamy is the son of the lead singer of the tornadoes & Matt Belamys song Knights of Cydonia is a tribute to his dads song Telstar!

fun facts that I would expect you an old man to know! (im 23 bitch ha ha ha ha!)

  • Dude your a Tool... Didn't they teach you anything in school?

sequins (see-quin!) are litle shiny objects that you can glue, sew or attach to objects, in this case a dress! so a sequined (see-quined!) dress is a dress with sequins (see-quins) on it!

  • To be "touched in the head" means you're loopy, it wasn't a mistranslation.

  • a sequined dress would be a dress with sequins on it i'd assume

sequins are like little shiny beedy things like when you bedazzle stuff

  • i see why ff games almost always state that when your characters are defeated they are unconcious, not dead... because the first time i got here, i was like, "whip out the freaking fenix down!!!!!!"

  • Sequined = has sequins on it, they're the sparkly things.

Touched = a polite way of saying crazy.

  • i love ur voice it arousses me. u could be my escort sexyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i think he's married

  • I always have locke in my party when possible. He just seems more main-charactery than everyone else.

  • @missingno777

lol I HATE him, he's so worthles and I can't belive HCB didn't take the samurai dude with his sword skill's.

  • @missingno777 I always give my name to Locke.

  • @missingno777 How can you SAY that? Mog is CLEARLY the main character!

  • @missingno777 I Disagree clearly the main character is Ultros. The game should be called Final Fantasy VI: Ultros and the Quest for Seafood Soup. JK JK.

  • @missingno777 I always used shadow or cyan as leader. they look awesome, and cyan has the honor thing goin for him that makes him more worthy of main charactery status

  • rofl, Family guy refrence

  • The colosseum guy is "touched" in the head, ie crazy.

  • Just to make Locke story sadder in the Japanese Locke said "We're going to get your wedding ring."

  • Locke's story made me sad... poor dude.

    :(

  • I honestly chose to keep Locke and Sabin. Gau's just too unreliable for my tastes, and Sabin's fourth Blitz is another great multi-targeting attack.

  • Geez...I hope HC doesn't use the Psycho Cyan glitch other than to make an example. That was waaaaaaaaay too powerful.

  • "Touched" means someone's a bit... off, as it were

  • Yeah, I think this is definitely the game that got me choked up more times than any other game as well...They did such a good job with the available resources creating a thoroughly moving and epic experience.

  • It's pronounced SEE-KWIN and it's one of those dumb dresses that are covered in thousands of tiny shiny discs. I think so at least.

  • so the king flashes his enemies to death? gross

  • At 3:51, was that from family guy? i think joe said it right?

  • yep

  • @Smily613 peter

  • what about if you go to the veldt with just gau? Ive never tried it myself

  • Stay away from the assasin!

Oh, I agree. This game has its..Sad moments.

    Actually..It's rather depressing at times.

  • what level is sabin right now?

  • A bit touched...? I think he's referring to being touched in the head, a.k.a. that crazy guy you met up with before.

  • 5:57- there IS an item LOCKE searches for, much later in the game

  • You do realize that HCBailly has beaten the game before?

  • @johnnyhawk15 5:03 unfitting music.

  • See-Kwin

    Oh HCBaily

  • Lol Assasin, Funny.

  • I wonder how we COULD use the Green Beret to get out of the house...

  • i adore rachels theme so much

  • The phrase being touched usually means someone with mental illness. It's an archaic slang term.

  • See-(qu)ihn, I believe, not seh-(qu)ieen.

You know how some dresses have those sparkly flat things on them? I think those are sequins.

  • Yeah, small disc that are SHINEH.

    See-Qu(Cwa)-in

  • if you called someone back from the "other side" i think they would become zombies, which is not good. dawn of the dead flashback!!! (its scarier when you are 8)

  • Love it everytime HCBailly says ''Secret/Hidden Treasure/Passage'', sounds so fun :p

  • I like running shoes and hero ring on gau since gau attacks or magics at random, so why not be quick and good at both?

  • Sequined means it has sequins on it. Sequins are those little flashy disk things girls put on accessories.

  • Yeah, I'll admit, I did a lot of party changing in this section, just for storyline purposes. But I made sure that I went to the Veldt to get a few rages, so the party change wasn't totally dumb.

  • "Touched" is a more old-fashioned/British term meaning " somewhat crazy".

I think that it's short for something like "touched in the head" - which might refer to the superstitious suspicion that crazy people had had their brains tampered with by spirits.

  • 3:52 Joe reference in family guy using binoculars.

Lockes scenerio was the first ff game that almost made me tear....almost!

  • Get naked you strange whore!

  • lol!

  • Wait, didn't know we would meet Shadow there!

I still want to cry for Locke's past with Rachel. So setsunai. I did the other way around. I went to see her body before activating Locke's past.

    Didn't know there's a secret door!

No Locke? You don't want to see the little scene in the Opera House with him? (Sorry about the spoiler)

  • "assasin"

Man, that copy and paste and spellcheck can be tricky, huh, Woolsey.

  • Next up go buy...

    THE LOAD BEARING HERBS!

  • Loved the additional Family Guy reference. By the way, are you going to show what happens if you have Shadow by himself and he just takes off?

  • What happens with that? Didn't know you could do that.

  • I hadn't either. HC mentions it in the video, and I wanted to see what would happen. I still don't know.

  • So HCBailly likes staring at naked women, as long as it happens to be through their window while they're dressing.

    Peeping Tom!

  • Celes: "ha!... rust in peace... bi***"

  • 5:12 Herbs to put her into suspended animation?...huh, well I guess saying she a perfectly preserved embalmed corpse is just a tad bit morbid...among other things.

  • See-quinn'd. With sequins, which are jewel-y things.

  • I was 12 when I first played the game, and yes the Rachel scene got to me..especially since I had a crush on a girl named Rachel at the time.

But this whole game was very emotional, especially the beautiful world theme. I think the fact that it dealt with real world issues like war, imperialism, love, identity crises and the corrupting nature of power, that's why I loved it so much. And it still managed to have lots of magic at the same time!

  • uMMM.. agree with 304783

  • Sequined. "See quin ed"

The little flashy things on dresses :)

  • play mother 3, just the first chapter.

  • Yeah what happens when you have an empty party?

And what's the point of Rachel? I don't understand why she is in the game at all. Or does something happen later on? I don't remember.

  • omega fenix down

  • 9:15 lol!

What happens? is that a game over or does the game flip out? :p

  • you want a emotional scene see the scene at the end of ff8!!

  • emotional? lol that game was a high school love story.

  • Yeah, I'm curious as to what happens after that "empty party" bug. Who appears as your party leader outside of battle? Is it an "invisible man"? Wonder if they fixed that in the Advance version..

  • dunno about leaving rachel alone with that old guy in the cellar...

  • Touched Means Crazy

  • dude i am your biggest fan hc bailey youre the reason i joined youtube reply.

  • HC...Suspended Animation is possible...I once saw a program about real things that have happened and this little girl passed away and the family wanted to do something to keep her from rotting away because she was pretty...this guy came over and mixed some special herbs and stuff and even to this date (she died like 300 years ago) she still looks the same as she did back then...she is in a glass coffin so that tourist can come by and see her...I forgot where she is located...but its real...

  • sequine is a type of jewelry, so a sequined dress would be decked in jewels.

  • Pronounced sea-quinn

  • I like Cyan though, especially with his 4th Sword Tech

  • Despite the charge times, I find most of his Sword Techs to be quite useful, contrary to popular opinion.

  • I always felt the Sword Techs to be badass

  • @HCBailly jh does build the coloseum, when kefka/empire finishes fuking up the [planet

  • I think my brother finished this game already.....I think...

  • Its quite an emotional scene.

  • That scene was pretty emotional to me.

And BTW, my sister's name is Rachel and my friend's name is Rachel.

  • Sequins (Pronounced "See-Kwin"... as if you cared) they are small reflective disk shaped beads that are sewn to cloth to give a fanciful and wealthy look. It is derived from an ancient tradition of sewing real money to clothes to show that a person is so rich they could even wear money!

  • ass+ass+in=assassin XDD

  • *facepalm*

  • Indeed.

  • I used this song in a solo Drama presentation in high school. it was great, I got full marks for it ^_^

  • Did anyone record it?

  • "Touched" is a polite word for "crazy." Not a mistranslation.

  • You know, the one thing I hated about this game (as well as V and VII) is that you had to spend a large amount of time grinding for AP/ spells. I've been watching your Let's Play VII and V recently, and have seen what you've done Bailey to alleviate the grinding, so I can't wait to see how you go about VI.

And maybe it's the completionist in me about wanting every spell for every character, too - lol.

  • That's the thing. You don't need all the spells to beat this game. It's just a little extra to do for people who like that kind of stuff and grind and put in some extra effort.

  • You're in luck. I plan on doing zero grinding for spells.

  • Yeah. I'd say grinding is actually worse in this game than in V or VII. For one, there are more characters, and you have to do it for each (with two exceptions)if you want completion. In FFVII, three sets of Master Materia is enough, and in FFV, there are only four characters.

Also, FFIV and FFVII have better areas for quick AP/ABP grinding. In FFVI, 10 AP is the most possible from random battles.

Finally, the payoff is less in this game. You only get magic, and no other great abilities.

  • The skills you get naturally is usually better for some characters, because you gain skills for them when you level up. And the whole AP thing, each magic has a times multiplier, so some have 20x while others have a 1x, so if you do it right, you can get spells easier.

  • Well, kinda. IIRC, the 20X growth thing (trying to avoid spoilers) is actually a pretty bad choice for grinding, because even if you get those spells first, you'll still have to use something later with weaker AP multipliers to get every spell. So using the ones with lower growth to start with is actually FASTER if you want every spell for every character. Really, I hate the design of the whole system. :(

But it's tolerable if you don't want every spell...

  • The system is not set up to give every character every spell in the game.

You give each character the [McGuffin]s they need for the stat boosts that benefit them best. Only characters you want to kit out as dedicated spellcasters should be equipping [McGuffin]s for the spells they teach.

Last time I played the only characters that I care about learning spells are Terra, Celes, [old sage], [young girl], Mog and Gau. Any spells anyone else happens to learn might be used, but it's not a big deal.

  • If the system is not set set up to give every character every spell, then why can you give every character (who can learn spells) every spell?

Oh right, it's because that's merely your preference for how to play the game.

And the stats boosts don't require that the [MacGuffins] be continually equipped, so theres no reason you can't do both (aside from it being a pain in the butt, which was my complaint to begin with!).

  • The story breaking level of grinding needed to ensure everyone has every spell in the game, of course.

If you take the time to ensure everyone has every spell you are grinding to a degree most players will find abhorrently painful.

Collection/100% completion is given for people who want to do it, not as an intent of gameplay.

  • At least in this game, you don't have to grind for abilities. You just need to get the right relic.

That said, I really don't like having to manage abilties and grind for them. At worst, let me at least grind for the gold to BUY them.

This is one of the big reasons why FF4 is #1 on my list. No need to spend 5-15 minutes per area for ability/item/equipment/materia management. With exception to the DS version, you will get all the spells you need fighting random battles.

  • sequined dress: it is a dress covered in sequins (small circular shiny things) lol

    just an FYI :P

  • Its Locke's fault rachel lost her memory? She was the one that pushed locke out of the way. *sighs* parents....

  • You were really funny in this ep. I like the time you spend going out of your way to show us all the little things such as the added line with Celes.. I myself have been playing this game for over ten years and I have not known of some of the little tidbits you show!!

  • I got choked up during that scene. And I'm 16 :D

  • lol family guy reference but i like watching through the window get undressed and pretendind shes someone i dont know lmao

  • I thought about adding the line after that, but decided that would really ruin the mood even more than I already did.

  • lol true

  • If Shadow joins here is he gonna leave again, other than the 1/16 chance?

Someone PM me if the answer is too much of a spoiler.

  • why didn't you keep Sabin in your party? His next blitz is just as good as marshal and even better if you give him a pair of earrings

  • Celes, Gau, and Edgar are all clearly better or more needed than Sabin right now, even with Fire Dance. After that, it doesn't really matter who the fourth party member is, and Sabin will get plenty of show time later.

Although technically, I could argue that since the fourth party member will always be useless during random battles, you might want the one who can deal the most damage to a boss, which would be Cyan with Quadra Slam.

  • The next time you change party members, can you bring along Edgar and Sabin? Remember, there's an extra little interesting bit of dialogue that only occurs if they're both in the party....

  • Gah! I can't express how much I hate it when you say "next time"! I don't whant it to end T_T

  • HCBailly I feel the same way about mother 3 it made me cry...

  • Man, if only Rachel had thought to take the Elixir from inside the clock and use it on herself!

  • "How many people are gonna get amnesia in this game?"

Enough to make Locke super guilty I suppose :P Poor guy.

  • Did HCBailly hack all of his Rages? I mean, how else could he get exactly the rages he wanted without any extras, and how did he get Primordite on its own? I don't think there's a battle formation with just Primordites on their own...

Maybe his ROM has a function for finding Veldt battles...

  • he has an episode where he explains all the rage stuff maybe thats of interest for you? i don't really get your problem but that might help you anyway

  • How about you watch the bonus video where he explains rages?

  • 3:50

    O_o

    Sorta creepy... but hilarious! :)

    5:20

Suspended animation herbs.... also maybe Edgar and Sabin haven't aged in 10 years because of suspended appearance herbs?

  • I don't think i have seen that scene with Rachel before. i never explored Locke's story, and thus i thought Locke was useless, and now i feel bad :(

  • You can use Phoenix Downs to revive party members but not to revive anyone else?

  • I think the unofficial official explanation is that they're not DEAD, just injured and incapable of fighting, to the point where regular potions and healing items can't help them.

  • Its a lazy copout excuse.

  • Yeah, I forgot what the English versions call the status (I suspect that it's different from game to game), but the official Japanese name for it is 戦闘不能 (sentou funou), which is literally "incapable of battle". So it's "incapacitated", rather than "dead".

FFI-FFIII are exceptions though. There, the status is 死亡 (shibou), which is simply "dead". So it seems to be a plot hole they filled from the SNES era.
