@ClassicGarth the original arcade game was in black and white...omega race for vic20 was the best home conversion of all time, even better than the C64
There would have been 2 (IMHO "awful") alternatives for a multi-color version:
a) reducing x-resolution by a factor of 2 (4 colors available then)
b) without reducing the x-pixel count : allocating a color to a 8*8 or 8*16 pixel block (at a position n*8 in x- and n*16 in y-direction) around an object which would have been globally applied to ALL objects moving through that block by the VIC 20 graphics chip.
IN THE YEAR 2003? LOL

As a kid, I never questioned the black & white graphics. They just seemed perfect and so did the controls & physics.

@chicoflaco The arcade Omega Race wasn't so much black and white as it was vector graphics. It's kind of difficult to do color vector graphics..

@uzimonkey we all know this, we all played omega race in the arcade

Yes, it's off center on my TV as well. This was recorded on an emulator though. The off-center, fuzzy image is part of the charm!

"And yes, the game is really off-center. It's like that on the TV as well. It's just... like that."
You should be able to center the screen when the initial menu appears using the vic20 cursor keys.

@succhiello Hmm.. I didin't know that. I don't think I ever knew that. VIC 20 games were always just off center, and we used this machine for years.
