This is an ok attempt, but the way you added the tape around your curvier parts makes you lose your curves. Besides flattening you out, you added lots of bulk. I'd suggested wearing closer fitting clothes to start. Good try though!

you want the arms down not in a human cross. So when fitting the sleeves you can angle the sleeve in line with how you arm naturally falls at the sides.

Same as the rest of the body really. The best position for the body while doing this is the 'human cross': Legs straight down, arms straight out to the sides, head facing forward. However, this can be a strain for the arms, so giving the person something to hold onto (like a wall, door, object that's high enough, etc) they can take the weight off and relax while keeping the shape.

Even better, cut the bottom part free and sit down to reduce even more cramp and pain!
