i doubt that you can download movies in just "seconds" on my desktop it takes about half an hour to download a standard def film from itunes and that using wi-fi. -.-

File transfer speeds are dependant on the hardware and technology used. I can download 800mb from the internet in a couple minutes. I can transfer it around my home network even faster and I can stream it from my home server instantly.

@scarface0523 The issue you're having with transfer speeds on your iPhone 4 doesn't carry over to other devices. The iPhone4 doesn't fully comply with the wireless N standard so transfer speeds for it are actually slower than than should be expected for wirless N. If I'm not mistaken the Samsung Epic 4G is compliant with the wireless N standard and shouldn't suffer the same issues with slow transfer speeds.

im just saying that woman saying that you can download movies in "seconds" is a bit naive to say. considering that it takes half an hour to do it on a computer. im saying that its a false claim. im sure ud like to try downloading a film on itunes and it would NOT take seconds on your computer. mobile none the less.

I actually agree with you on your point here. While I'm doubtful it can download a movie in just seconds, I do believe it will be many times faster than the iPhone's hardware, and ATT's network can support. I calculated that it would take about 10mins to download a 700MB movie at peak 4g speeds or 17mins to download a movie at average 4g speeds. So yeah, she doesn't know what she's talking about.

and its running on apple's 1GHz A4 chip. and im on O2 in the UK so im not sure with AT&T. that woman is talkin bare waffles. no 4G internet connection can download a movie within seconds. -.-

Kinda. The iPhone's 802.11n "wireless n" isn't fully compliant so it's not as fast as it should be. Most believe it was done in order to save (non removable) battery life. Other phones don't have that issue. So it is the fastest available and at the same time, it's not. Interesting fact: the A4 and the Hummingbird are both ARM Cortex A8's modified by Samsung/Intrinsity which was bought by Apple so expect the CPU performance between the Epic and iPhone to be nearly identical.
