You mean Flow 'Pedals'? Totally different applications, concepts, materials.
Flow Pedals make the bike up to 3lbs lighter.
They add stability to the bicycle, making it easier to pop-off and bail.
They are easier to maintain than cranks, pedals, chain, and driver hub, and 1/10 the price.
We have riders riding Flow Pedals.
I'm not really seeing the comparison.

Yeah, Flow Pedals definitely make tricks a lot easier after you learn the fundamentals of how to ride tranny.

Why do they have chains on the bikes?

They don't carry chain breakers for shadow chains, so you can just leave the sprocket on after bolting on the pedals...makes it easier to switch back and forth from/to cranks.
