I witnessed 'Reel Steel', a original Shawn Levy motion picture while held captive on a Easy Jet flight from Luton to Ibiza. While I was impressed with this impressive take on the rock them & shock them fisher price robot boxing game I had when I was 5, the child actor they brought in to fill the Austin O Brien archetype was atrocious. He certainly wasn't fit to walk in the shoes that walked through such 90s classics as Prehysteria & My Girl 2! There's only one Austin O Brien!

Along with most I seriously expected so little from this film. I won't let a trailer make my decisions for me about a movie anymore. I was blown away by the entire thing. The acting was great and there was an amazing amount of chemistry between all the characters. And for a robot, Atom was just as riveting as the human characters. I can't wait for a sequel and hope that everyone from the first one come back, cast and crew. Man Shawn Levy surprised me here, normally I despise his films.

I expected bad movie with shallow story when I saw trailer, comments saying that this is a Transformers copy, so I kept delaying to watch this movie. But, damn, it's not even close to being similiar to that movie. It's 5 times better! Great idea, great story, great actors and great effects. What else could you possibly want from such movie? I'm not a fan of such movies and I'd prefer watching some drama or something, so I really got impressed. Hugh Jackman and Dakota Goyo were awesome. 10/10 ♥♥♥

Most underrated film of 2011 besides Megamind. A lot of people thought it was going to be all about the robot fights but it isn't. The movie spends more time actually developing the characters.It concentrates more on the father and son and how Atom brings them together. The kid wasn't as annoying as I thought he was going to be and the robot fights are epic. Also the ending will leave you surprised.
