  • HI, After removing the head gasket on the block, do i need to get it resurface or no?

    ken

  • John

With a multi layer steel gasket do you use any sealants like Hylomar? Is there any benefit to a head gasket sealant? What do you use on an open deck motor with a multi layer steel gasket?

  • @tcl505 - Most MLS gaskets have a sealant already applied, if not I use Gasgacinch.

  • what are those black marks? thx

  • I have a question for anyone who could answer it for me. Which internal parts can be left in the block and still be able to get the block resurfaced?

  • @xpakizx - None.

  • @fiatnutz damn well that kinda sucks to find out but thank u for the info also if u don't mind answering is it somewhat ok to sand the surface on the block just a little bit

  • @xpakizx - Not really, use a hard plastic scraper to remove the gasket material.

  • hi i got a 1999 honda civic Si vtec 1.6l and i don't know how to put the head back on the car properly can u make a video showing that and how much torque to put in to the head and the order of the head torque. thank you

  • @moshahaiduddin why don't you just look it up online?? research the order and torque specs and your fine.... you dont need a whole video

  • Is that a blade or a big "sanding disc" in the machine?

  • A blade. If it was a sanding disc, it wouldn't be a machined surface...

  • Surface grinding doesn't use coolant. Also cast iron machines well without lubricant or cooling. It is messy.

  • I was wondering about that too. Not so much on the Aluminum, but on some of his other videos he's drilling and reaming cast iron. Just guessing that maybe the cast iron will absorb the coolant and requires cleaning before putting new guides in, dunno. Just a WAG.

I'm not a machinist or play one on TV. I've learned just enough to make small parts, brackets, and things that go into electronic prototype assemblies. Basic stuff, lathe, vertical miller, drill press, etc...

  • Honda engines are fantastic! They look like a motor bike blocks. So much even cooling area. ; D

  • Deutz builds their smaller industrial diesels this style too, i hate them. When a gasket blows you need to resurface them to get an even edge around the cylinder, instead of putting some new liners into them

For car engines (which outlive the car they are built into anyways) its ok but not my favourite design to customise..

  • That tool looks cool o__O

Wanna do that for me? Lol

  • nice
