It's John Clayton on bass, not Robert Hurst.

You're right -- it is John Clayton. He has played with Jeff a number of times. They used to play with Russell Malone in the Benny Green Quartet. Probably the best rhythm section I've ever had the pleasure of seeing live.

that is Jeff Hamilton on drums. That is Robert Hurst on bass. Another great player in his own right.

Burrell is far too exceptional to be the "standard" for a jazz guitarist. However, I didn't dig this guy much either. Burrell is the man though! everything with Jimmy Smith is wonderful, and the album midnight blue is SICK
