ours did not need that much space, and he was the best dog. never bored or hyper, only to see us when we got home. for health problems i find the most common are ear infections and problems with their bums. the y have dominance issues but they learn quickly whose boss if you teach them well. his biggest issues were with other dogs, but they have an innate sense of when you're going to be in trouble, ours saved my sister and i, as well as my dad from a rotweiller that was off it's leash.
Notes for potential owners: Bouviers have one of the highest rates of cancer of all breeds at almost 50% of all dogs in the breed. Also, most Bouviers today are show dogs and are rather lathargic and don't have the work ethic that they once did. and are hard to keep motivated. Also most have horrible gas, which can be managed with proper diet.
