@maxxonpower Yes, also another style that indirectly influenced the making of your precious BJJ from which you're reffering to "take-downs" that already had names way before they were given such idiotic synonyms. Basically, Kyokushin Karate teaches "take-downs" or Nage and Sutemi-waza. Or atleast some schools do. So before running your mouth on internet, make sure you know what you're talking about. If you don't, keep it shut.
@maxxonpower for their morning exercise...Not to mention what their physical condition training look like. On top of that most Kyokushin tournaments are OPEN, which means NO category.
Third of all, Masutatsu Oyama's Kyokushin was based off of Shotokan and Goju-Ryu in which Masahiko Kimura (Yes, the guy who beat Helio Gracie's ass) was trained as well, not to mention the influence from Daito-Ryu Aiki-JUJUTSU.
@maxxonpower So you're saying Kyokushin practitioners are dumb, don't have normal physical condition and don't know what a takedown is? Let me educate you a lil' about Martial Arts, in this case Kyokushin. First of all, to practice any form of Martial Art you have to have a greater understanding of it that goes over "I'm stronger than you, I can easily take you down and my Martial Art is better than yours"
Second of all, Kyokushin practitioners are highly trained athletes that punch tree trunks
I think what people mean by that is that in an actual event, where self defense it needed, it is highly unlikely you will pull off a successful spin kick.
Considering that people in the video do a lot of stretching and warming up before trying something like that.
I can pull a spinning kick without stretching...or warming up. My profile videos should be proof enough for that. If I recall correctly, my main video (540 kick) was done without any warmup or stretch.
I'd be inclined not to use it in a fight, however. Especially if it's all close-contact fighting. Then I'll just a kung fu/jujitsu hybird style. But if theoretically a guy came up to me and started throwing punches...I might have the distance to kick. Of course though, it's just a maybe.
i haven't done any of my martial arts (Kyokushin) in a few years, but a lot of what i'd learnt comes as second nature...so, i'd assume it would be the same thing with anyone who'd studied and trained something over a long period of time, you dont think about it, you just do it i guess...rofl
Haha, +1 dude. I think a lot of people get the wrong idea about kicks because TKD can be so easily defeated (unless you're Sherkan Yilmaz...he pwns). If there was a Kyokushin/TKD hybrid style, it would be nearly as intimidating as BJJ. Agreed?
yeah lol good luck pulling off a 540 in a fight when you'r in a rush of adredeline (i can't spell) The best street defence martial arts i know of are muay thai, judo and even nintaijutsu.
I can think of a few situations where it would be possible. Though, I have pulled a 540 (and other show moves) with TONS of adrenaline in me. Given that a 540/powerful tornado kick is a fairly "basic" move, I think it wouldn't be too hard. Afterall, Sherkan Yilmaz pulled a C720 kick in a K1 match.
I personally advocate for BJJ + TKD + Jujitsu/KFSS/Krav Maga, but that's just me =).
I was talking about in self defence, if a 7 ft phycho attack you, you can't really just do a 540. You wouldn't really know what to do unless you've trained your self as that to be your first reaction which takes a long time to do.
I don't know about that, actually. A 540/tornado isn't that much harder than a jump front snap kick (that's my experience of it anyway). My first reaction with a 7 ft guy is probably going to be a throte punch/strike or a groin attack. However, if I have distance, my first reaction probably WILL be a tornado kick. Because that kick is one of the best ways for me to reach my opponent's head...one of my favorite targets =).
I do agree with you though, it would take a lot of training...almost to the point of not being "worth it" just for the self-defense application of it. However...if you do "tricking" like I do, you get PLENTY of practice in =).
how is kicking someone in the face luck? yeah I kick with my shin...but it put that guy on his ass. Just cuz ur Muay Thai instructor says its stupid doesn't mean it wont work sometimes.
STUPID! i never said kicking someone in the face is luck!! i dont want anyone to go against me but i never meant it was a gay kick! its just the way he positioned himself!(he could of broke his toes) i LOVE THE VIDEO THOUGH, BEST!
Fighters wouldnt break their toes just like that, if u train hard for many years you will be very conditioned, you wont break your toes like a noob commenting on videos on youtube would
he would not have broken his toes because karate kicks hit with the ball of the foot. This is much better than shin kicks for two reasons. A) the impact area is more concentrated and will have more of an effect. B) if the shin, or the arch of the foot is blocked with an elbow, trust me, the person will be limping for the next month.
A true martial artist must always remember his/her art form is not for show or for awards. The true martial artist remember the old ways and the new to keep his/her body and soul at peace. Practise hard and one day anyone can become great.
btw do u have another verison of this song that uses the remix to the song? i mean the more modern version i think in reanimation CD, lol sorry i htink that one sounds better! i dont like this verison of the song but still gr8 vid man!
by face contact i mean punching to the face, i think kyokushin would be pefect if they had face contact for punching, but just punching to the body isnt always gonna be helpful. Karate and taekwondo needs to stress punching to the face and grappling. thats why u have all these MMA guys saying that karate and taekwondo dont work.
Well he did miss with it twice, then again, he also ko'd the bugger, and after being thoroughly disrespected. I was happy to see the guy without respect for his opponent kiss canvas. Anyone know what fight that was? I'd like to see the whole thing.

I agree...everyone knows he is better than all of them, but the cage makes it harder than the usual ring that he uses, because he doesn't train in a cage.
Im a kung fu practitioner but im at least humble enough to say that its about the fighter and not the style. Even though the best street fighters Ive meet were Kung Fu fighters(Read wing tsun, chun). ive meet some crazy azz japanese guys in bare knuckle fights though.
You're right about; it's the fighter and not the style. Just look at Bruce Lee... his later on development has major difference compared with his original styles.
Cudos to Bruce Lee. He was a good MMA but the thing is that Im not sure if he could go a fight. I really have no clue about that. Its his teachings of being humble that alot of fighters should take up on now though. They are focusing outwards and not inside. Kinda sad, MMA in all its honor but its not the best shit out there. Its the fighter not the style.
This would be a good video if you'd taken out all of the MMA bullshit.
