america wasnt invading north vietnam, and south vietnam wasnt invading the north,it was uncle ho and the criminals he had around him that were just evil monstersand we tryed to stop this evil,we tryed to save the vietnamese from this evil monster, but the evil north kept invading the south, peacful america just tryed to help, remember the devil looks asian, america is a peacful country.
north vietnam infiltrated the border area of cambodia, the us did not like infiltration, they invaded cambodia and changed the government of a neutral country. How can nixon think he is peacemaker?
@TroyBilt007 Well said, but: it may be worse than than, even. I believe they died, not for nothing, but for something LESS than that: the interests of the U.S. corporate class, which saw an alternative economic model (to U.S.-dominated corporate capitalism) beginning to flourish in SE Asia, and decided to end it, and PUNISH a humble, but surprisingly powerful, people for their alternative to western capitalism. Atrocities all around, indeed: but WE (Americans) were quite decidedly THE BAD GUYS.
Thankyou! I share the same view as u because my grandpa was a Vietcong and he was very traumatized by the war..he never spoken to me a single word about the war, only till the very end he told me a few heart aching stories about his experienced of that brutal war.
It was such a waste of human lives and resources on both sides 60000 American died, more than 3 million Vietnamese died or missing. To this day I can never forgive or forget those leaders that causes all this atrocities
@AuroraCypher you should have ask your grandpa why he was fighting to be a slave, the people from the north were lied to,but the people from the south the viet-cong knew that america was there to help stop the communist and nothing more,so why did your grandpa fight to be a slave and to enslave vietnam ,remember ho chi minh killed millions of vietnamese just so he could rule vietnam, stalin, pol pot and ho.
@troytblevins You know in the end.. I know he really regretted helping the North because they are a bunch of thieves, and corruptions. He could never imagine how the north took Saigon and slave the people in Vietnam like you mention above. It's a sad sad story but mistakes were made by the Vietcong. I heard many awful stories the North communist committed. If you ever been to Vietnam, u will see that the people in the south are very different than the north.
@troytblevins The people in the South weren't design for fighting that war, they just want to do business and get rich.. but the people in the North were brainwashed into fighting a never ending war with America. Toward the very end the South army did fight it's own battle for the first time, but it was too late..
@AuroraCypher You fool American had divided our country which was supposed to united in 1956, American opposed the unification and started building military strength. How are they brainwashed for fighting to unite their country and family? You are the brainwash child.
Media coverage, media coverage, .... you idiots, absolute idiots. The media FINALLY showed that there is nothing heroic in war, and who the hell gives a shit about how many X or Y killed, the entire war was fucked up from the start. If We had supported the liberation movements early on after WW2, we would have avoided this silly conflict. Go read up on it, you "stoopidass" dumbbells. The "anti-commie" obsession and paranoia has ruined US foreign policy.
oooh.. "thousands killed by commies". well you need to learn how many millions of "commies" died for their country. oh by the way moron, every dead civilian was reported as a Viet Cong by American in those days... yes even women and children... so for all that you know those could've been Viet Cong.
Your need to check your spelling, and please read what I wrote. Where did I justify the killings of the North? And if swearing is all, you can produce, you shouldn't be here or at least review your education.
Bullshit, the Southern Governments never had the backing of their on people. The SVN soldiers didn't do what they were paid for. Ten thousands of them defected. You just can't fight for a country by killing the civilians you are supposed to defend. War crimes Like Mi Lai didn't help either. That's why at the end you had to betray your ally and sneak out.

The commies got waxed in Tet, but the media coverage of the offensive ultimately gave the victory to the communists.
