@Sacreppin916 I don't know that the dot itself shrinks so much as the "glow" around the dot on the brighter setting shrinks when toning it down. Although I have no experience with the ml3 I have no doubt it is a much better product but the StrikeFire is much more affordable for those of us with a strict budget.
@gibbyair2 I haven't recorded specific reviews of how well it stays on target but I can say for me it seems to do very well. Once I sight it in I haven't had to sight it back in unless I remove it from the weapon. With the 2x doubler at 100 yards you should be able to get pretty good groups on a man sized target. I haven't really used the doubler however to speak much about it.
ur complaint on the mounts dial is valid i went a little pricey with american defense's forward cantilever wich made it extremely usefull i use it for hunting cyotes here and its extremly durable and ive made 200 yard shots with it in a real world enviroment its a good optic my S.W.A.T. friend has 3 of them and one is on his duty carbine and it works out well from what he's said i think its worth the money many times over

i have heard complaints about dot being too dim on sunny days, whats you thoughts? in the market for a dot, lookin at strikeforce, bushnell, primary arms and leatherwood...this is my first red dot and putting it on an ak47..opinions??
@shamrock68ak For me, I haven't had any problems with the dot being too dim. Even on bright sunny days. But, I guess this could be a problem for some depending on your eye sight. I haven't had any experience with the bushnell or primary arms red dots but I hear really good things about leatherwood scopes.
I agree that Vortex's warranty is great, but I'm very unhappy that I've had to use it 2 times in just one year! The first unit I bought started flickering on and off with recoil to the point that it would flicker even when I dry fired. The second one lasted about 500 rounds and then developed a bright halo on the outside of the lens, so had to be replaced again. Great warranty, but I'm not impressed with the durability of this scope.
@mattn5160 Sorry to hear you've had to return it a couple of times. What rifle do you have it mounted on? Its been working great for me after years of use.
thanks for the review. looking to either purchase the Strikefire or the SPARC. could you please comment or add a video showing a parallax test of the Strikefire? my problem with my cheap ($50) red dot is that the scope makes you "center" the red dot, whereas aimpoints and eoctechs are basically parallax free
@TheJsil Here is what Vortex says about it being Parallax Free:
Allows for rapid shooting with both eyes open, without concern for parallax shooting error. Parallax free beyond 50 yards; less than one-inch error closer than 50 yards.
I'll do a test on it when I can and see how well it stays on target.
when you tone down the brightness i thought the dot shrunk? i know thats how my brothers comp ml3 aimpoint works but then again this isnt an aimpoint

do you have any reviews on how well it stays on target. If I used the doubler would it be good for target shooting at 100 yards

I'm just wondering, does the 2x magnifier have a specific eye relief?
mgschutze 3 months ago
@mgschutze yes, it does. Makes it just like a scope at that point.

Larue has mounting options but they are pricey

How well does this red dot co-witness with the mount it came with?
andr3w0312 3 months ago
@andr3w0312 To be honest I never tried it with the original mount. When I first got it I put it on the AK-47 and didn't have irons.

Not bad at all

So it supports night vision? Or is that sold somewhere else?
MrMonkeyman2424 10 months ago
@MrMonkeyman2424 Yes, it supports night vision but you have to have a night vision scope.

SOLOK1LLA 1 year ago
ya but check out their warranty they say they will take it back and send u a new one no matter what happens no matter where u buy it
SOLOK1LLA 1 year ago
@SOLOK1LLA YES! The warranty makes it that much better. Its just a really good deal compared to the much more expensive eotechs and Aim Points.
This is exactly what they state on the vortex site:
•Unlimited Lifetime Warranty
•Fully transferable
•No warranty card to fill out
•No receipt needed to hang on to
If you ever have a problem, no matter the cause, we promise to take care of you.
