Man I dont even know how the hell you could compose something like this for the genesis. I mean its one thing to even have limits on audio on a system like the genesis but this actually sounds really good and thought out. truly gone are the days of great videogames, when games had heart and devs could focus more on gameplay and less on graphics. If I could play just one more game that had that heart, that epicness, before i died i would be happy. shadow of the colossus came closest. LONG LIVE ECCO, and R.I.P Sega. gone are great games such as these.

The ToT theme is much more dark, serious, and emotional than the first game, possibly because Ecco has to save the future of his world, but in the end, he disappears into the Tides of Time, never to be seen again.

@WarnyBoy No shit......I remember when I was young...Whenever I got done playing a game like Sonic and wanted something else to play my eyes would land on Ecco and I can almost swear to god that every time my eyes touched that cartridge, I'd just sit there looking at it for moments before deciding to face the horrificness of the game and try to beat it or just convince myself to turn run....This was "THE" only game I had that put that kind of pressure and fear on me.....It has my full respect.

Nah, it was like that in the american game too. It happens every time that section comes up (three times in this video). At 0:06, 1:12.8, and 2:19.5. It was probably a midi keyboard because not every note from the staccato arp is the same length.

It's because of the echo effect. Let's say the initial play is 1 2 3 4, first echo is a b c d, second echo is A B C D. The first echo sounds in between the initial playback, like 1 a 2 b 3 c 4 d. The second echo sounds on the 3rd note of the initial playback, like 1 a 2 b 3A c 4B d, with 3 and A playing together, as are 4 and B. Since it takes so long for the 3rd layer to start playing, it leaves a noticeable empty space, which is even included when the song loops. That's what you're hearing.
