  • Don't smoke man that shit is bad. The user misternickotine was correct in the explanation.

  • nicotine will give you powerful vivid dreams. Not smoking but pure nicotine. Usually people who wear the nicotine patch will remember all of the dreams and it be so wild.

  • nicotine is similar in structure to the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which has been shown to be very important in the context of REM sleep. it binds to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the brain.

  • The nicotine helped you remember the dream the dream was caused by you waking up then going back to bed. You are also at risk in doing that for sleep walking.

  • if your interested Stephen LaBerge wrote a good book called 'lucid dreaming'. a good read if your interested in practicing and developing lucid dreams. he talks about the history of lucid dreaming, techniques for inducing lucidity, and how we can make use of our dreams in our every day lives.

  • I never really had weird or lucid dreams while smoking.. I've been having some really weird ones ever since I quit though..

  • I remember when i was attempting to quit smoking, i bought a pack of the patches and in the small print in the 'possible side-effects' it actually described the possibilty of having 'strange dreams'. They were definitely vivid and very easy to recall the next day, almost like i'd just tripped out for 8 hours :)

  • I agree that nicotine definitely has some effect. I had a cig before falling asleep last night and I had a lucid dream. It was very short, but I was lucid nonetheless.

As to your dog to frog problem; you may have been trying too hard, or weren't totally convinced you had the power to make the change. Or, you're more of a detail person and remembering exact details was more important to your subconscious. I hope that made any kind of sense and helped in some way.

  • your on the right track

once i was having trouble flying, a dc told me i was trying to hard, i realized i was:)

  • i'm not sure about inducing lucidity, but personally nicotine has helped increase my dream recall. i smoke about a medium size bowl from my pipe before i go to bed and when i do my ability to recall my dreams increases quite a bit. so i'm persuaded that nicotine does have different affect on sleep and dreaming.

  • @08DrAke08 Weed or Tobacco?

  • tobacco, hence the nictotine. pipe tobacco specifically. i can rarely remember my dreams if i go to sleep high.

  • after a keg party where i had smoked a pack and a half, i passed out in my car with the windows closed and i had 4 false awakenings in a row, one where i had gotten out of the car and saw people that couldnt possibly have been there so i think nicotine definitely does something.

  • yeah i'm not sure exactly how it works but nicotine can definitely improve your thinking process in general. for example stephen king said he wrote best while he was smoking, and it became harder to concentrate after quiting. i'm pretty sure it has something to do with the neurotransmitters, and since you are more aware it's more likely to lucid dream.
