In my vision, external reality is always mediated-even by our dear unreliable senses. This video made me think that when reality cracks down, the remains of it still contain tiny and hardly recognisable pieces of that reality. Then comes the turn of subjectivity-memory, consciousness, judgement etc- to restructure these remains into a coherent meaning. What if that part (subjectivity) fail to do its job? Applying this thought into our modern world scares me.

Ultra-beautiful and totally hypnotic in both sight and sound. It makes me want to take a nostalgic trip to an amusement park of my youth (probably at around the same year the footage was shot), so I could look at it again with newly focused eyes. I can't wait to see this video projected up on the big screen at a film festival in the near future.

Ein interessantes Video, dass den Gesetzen des Zufalls unterliegt und das erstaunliches dabei ist, welch neue Sichtweisen und Gedanken bzw. Gefühle, daraus entstehen. Ich würde sagen, es ist ein psychedelisches Meisterwerk, der besonderen Art. Ich selbst beschäftige mich mit Dadaismus und Psychedelic und versuche eine Verbindung zwischen diesen beiden Kunstformen herzustellen, wobei ähnliche Videos entstanden sind. VG Noh

Another display of genius, the rich colors and wry play on words form a masterpiece of art that is linear only in that it's in video form. Accepting a glitch & incorporating it as part of the work is sublimely gratifying; so similar to Da Vinci painting in & over cracks in a wall because "they belonged there"

Okay, I'll hand it to you.  That was interesting. Was it originally 8mm? I'm wondering what it would look like if you now converted it to a larger film format.

I don't know what it was shot on--as I mentioned in my description it was a piece of found media from archive.org that was shot by an unknown amateur filmmaker back in the 1960s so I'm assuming it would have been 8mm or 16mm at best. Unfortunately I don't have direct access to the source film so I can't confirm this.

A video like this really reminds me of how much I miss Night Flight. The USA Network aired the show in the 80's - on Friday & Saturday. It ran for 4 hours, then immediately after it was repeated. For those 8 hours you might see anything - movies, music videos, cartoons, computer animation and documentaries - usually in a methodical jumble. They weren't afraid to present a clip like you have here. In fact sometimes they'd offer an entire night of such art... As I said, I miss Night Flight...
