  • Seems to be the one pianist who does NOT have a slowing during the ascending thirds (even the great Richter takes a little liberty at this passage...)

  • Cziffra was Liszt reincarnated, the Heifetz of piano. oh how i wish i could have met you, or seen you perform... all the greats died before my generation, atleast there is still Kissin and Argerich. Lang Lang....ehhhhh

  • very similar hesitation (possible memory slip?) toward the end in barere's live recording. :)

  • @kasyapa

I know. Both did that during their studio-recordings, as well.

    Why ? I don't know.

Arcadi Volodos once played this Toccata for me and he did that too.

Why ? "Because Cziffra did it!"

So, perhaps Cziffra did it, "Because Barere did it" ??

    Greetings,

    Geert Dehoux, pianist.

  • sounds like he has 12 hands.

  • fantastic edgy feel!

  • GOD pianist

  • I was at that concert. I was seventeen years old. The applauds at the end of the recital lasted a good half-hour. But I heard him play this Toccata much better later in his life.

  • @klingsor93 What a treat to hear him more than once
