Well, ive just rented Dead Space 2 and played till the chapter 15, I have to say this, I've never been so pissed, angry and frustrated with a game untill now, the only thing I thought it was good its because it was scary in the beggining, until the whole "Shock Value" goes away and the all that's left its cheap deaths, low ammo and low health, had enough of it, never play it again...

the key is to notice that off-center asteroids don't hit the ship.

A trick I found to beating this part was turning off the sound and sitting close to the T.V so I could see the meteors coming. With no sound, you won't feel as pressured and distracted. And if you look closly, you can see them coming JUST before they appear. You'll see what I mean. (Especially handy for the trophy/achievment)

I'd put this and the Slug fight (boss version of this in Chapt 8) harder over everything else in Dead Space. Mainly due to the fact that the lasers used as your crosshairs hardly even reach your target. I recently beat the game on hard difficulty and now fool-hardily attepting Impossible... I fear for the worst. The only thing I have to say to make this part "easier" is to rapid-fire one cannon. It seems to work just as well if not better and there is hardly any overheat.

yeah, this part of the game felt totally out of place. When I finally beat it my strategy was to only focus on the asteroids coming straight at me. The ones on the periphery, I mostly ignored. It actually worked, lol.

If you fire one and hold it, and immediately after fire the other, shouldn't you end up with an automatic cannon? They would alternate barrels in a continuous firing sequence. Would work so much better.

Why interrupt something fun with something less fun? Variety? Dead Space is about exploring the creepy environment. Why not stick to the core cameplay throughout? Variety is overrated. The player should never be forced into a turret. Ever.

the main problem I saw was overheating with the gun, you have to alternate, always keep one cool so if one overheats, you can still shoot...otherwise, get rid of the biggest ones first

Small ones use 1 turret then 2nd turret then 1st turret and so on.

Big ones use both turrets at the same time

The way to get past this (on hard anyway) is to just shoot the rocks in the centre of the screen, use only one barrel so your gun doesn't overheat and turn the volume down so you don't have to listen to hammond. Also it takes 2 minutes for this to complete and when hammond says another minute, he means it. The main thing is NEVER stray from the centre of the screen. If you're stuck hope this helps. :)

Also you can open the doors behind the turret and quickly run to the turret and you don't run out of air plus the clouds outside dissapear. Reply if you don't understand.

I never really had a problem with this part, I had to knock the sensitivity up on my mouse but after that it wasn't as had, you just have to know which ones are a hiegher priority.

On another note, if that many anstorides had be flying at the ship the whole time, it'd of died long before you manned that turret.
