a racoon chewed through the rope i was using that tied down my leg hold trap.and took of with my trap on its leg.usually i use a chain to tie it down.
I'd rather buy the Duke Dog proofs then the "lil griz".... which are double the price and basically the exact same trap as the Duke.
What I find with the dog proffs is to use a 8" piece of 1"x 2" to make sure the coon don't tip it over. Plastic zip tie it around the trap, carefully not to wrap the trigger in too. If the Duke dog proof trap tips over... the coon will walk on by it....just leave it alone!
@MrAntsy25 you can do both i prefer putting a marshmallow under the trigger it helps by not having misses but don't put big bait in after its set or they will steal it right away the traps are about 12 bucks
your rich lol

Thats not the reason it dog proof is it wont set.. Its beacuse it has to pull up and only a coon or opossum will grap and pull up
