hey srry to inform you, but lip stick will never get her tail back... once the fin rot has reached the base of the tail and starts to get at the tissue the tail will never grow back but great job! i could hav never thought of putting a goldfish in a sling! also btw make sure you keep an eye on her and that the " fin rot" doesnt become "body rot" in other words just make sure her body doesnt start to rot
I like the sling. However your water looks a bit cloudy, When you "clean" the tank, do you just do a water change or do you rinse everything out with chlorinated water? If you're rinsing with chlorinated water, then all of the nitrifying bacteria that naturally removes ammonia from the water is being killed, causing a buildup of ammonia which causes some fish's fins to rot. I speak from experience. Research nitrifying bacteria. And how long has your tank been established?
Is she still alive. If yes don't change all the water not all than put plants and buy some anti-bacteria.Try also put some toys like boats bridge so it can be stress free.
Wow this is good to see its hard when your fish get sick a lot of the time you dont know what to do I a ways find out when its to late but now when I get a new fish it go's in a small 30LT tank for a week I use malafix and Droopy and half tea spoon sult this kills any bugs
Wait slings like these for goldfish actuall exist? So that must be why my mom's friend tried to help make one for my sick goldfish, but turned out horrible. The sick gold fish is small, we barely got it, so it was hard to make a small one and we tried but the rope was tiny like a floss thing >.> Now I see how it's supposed to be done, but it's harder since my fish was super duper small.
ok thats a good thing to do but some times when animales suffer to mutch you my half to pu them out of their missory but its not bad eough but yes she disvers to live
yeah u must water change for 25 or 30% i used a medication for goldfish just like mind use a Furan-2 anti-bacterial fish Medication ick guard and melafix anti-bacterial fish remedy im gonna post my video in tonight or tommorrow somethng
I feel so sorry and I'm glad your going the full lengt to help your fish .
I love my fish and I know how it is when you have them years and they die :(.
Since a few years I do 25% water change a week ( because the fish , piss and breath out ammonia the tank will get a high nitrite pike if you don't do water changes)
Make sure you have a little filter so bacteria will grow inside and take down these nitrite and make tritraat out of it and that's not bad for the fish or plants
If the fin rot has advanced the full length of the fin and is threatening the body, this procedure would need to be accompanied by a course of suitable antibiotics.
Does the tissue grow back? In minor cases where only the fin tissue is affected it probably will, but in more advanced cases, particularly if the fin rays (bones) are affected, the chances of re-growth are slim
Thanks for the info she is still alive I am still medicated her. she eats and gets around the tank on her back she does turn over fom time to time, she dosn't seem to be getting worse thank god. so every 4 days I clean the tank and re med her. I had a beta lose itswhole tail and it came back not perfect but it did come back.
In more advanced cases it may be necessary to trim the affected fin and remove the necrotic tissue. This has to be done when the fish is sedated. It is important to use sterile scissors and treat the clean edge with an antiseptic such as povodine-iodine. This procedure does carry with it a risk of secondary infection and it is important that the fish is returned to optimum conditions and its progress closely monitored for the next week or so.
wow! glad she's ok.. i'd read some articles about fin rot. and this is what its says..
stress is the major cause of fin rot. This could be due to a fish disease such as parasites, or overcrowding, low oxygen levels, bullying, poor water quality etc. The most important first step is to resolve any stressors. If caught early, this may be sufficient.
she is still doing ok she is still eating and doing ok. I will have to make anther video she perfers to not be in the sling she moves around on the bottom better with out the gravel, she is still getting the meds she is a fighter she wants to live.
Some hobbyists feed their fish peas to treat this infection. Perhaps this works by helping in the digestion process. Try this: stop feeding the fish for a few days, give the fish optimal water conditions by performing frequent small water changes (10% every week) and see if the problem clears up.
@eazyone23 10% water change weekly is far from sufficient. Goldfish produce a lot of waste and 30% to 50% of the water should be changed weekly, more if the tank is stocked to its limit or overstocked :)
@eazyone23 It´s more to clean out blockages/constipation than treatment. A blocked intestine can put pressure on the swim-bladder. it´s not a cure tho..
I suggest a tablespoon of aquarium salt every 5 gallons, 25 percent water change every 2 days... remember to replace the salt when you replace the water... some melafix, follow the directions. my 4 goldfish are healing from fin rot..... 95% cured,, hope this helps...
I have changed the water 25 %ever 4 days the meds fugus eliminator that Im useing says to do that. it does make the water yellow and it makes the water that color I did clean the glass and take out the gravel last week. Im open to any idea any one may have Thanks for your comment
How's your fishy? Hope its getting better. I bought a dying fish from a pet shop a few days ago to help it heal (Septicemia). Still medicating but not sure if ITCHY will make it :(
Anyway, hope your fish gets better. Will check back here again.

One of my Goldfish has fin rot, but luckily i got the meds she needed and her tail is growing back!
It was badly frayed, and my other tank mates were biting at her tail, which made it worse ;(

@SmittyKat btw when the nitrifying bacteria is killed and the ammonia builds up, it can cause the water to look cloudy.

Just make sure to clean the filter once a week with COLD water.
the water will get much clearer because of the bacteria and the fish will be much happier.
By some real plant's ( those very quick growing ones) they will takwe out the heavy irons out of the water and grow .
peace and love i hope lipstick is doing well

Bless her Soul ... It seems you love her very much, most people would just give up. It made me shed a tear.
To me that looks like a Ryukin which should never be feed floating pellets. Goldfish need lots of air bubbles
