@someone1445: Don't be fooled by what you can achieve with "cheap" camera's.
The image quality has obviously suffered in the war on pixels (maybe you know that they manage to cramp more and more pixels into the same really small space) and sometimes adjusting the image size can do a lot against lumination static in pictures.
Even though cheap camera's don't offer the thin depth-of-field SLR's give you, still, I'd suggest you read about shutterspeeds and composition.
