I have a dilemma. I just bought a 780i tri sli motherboard, 4gb OCZ HPC Reaper memory, Corsair TX 750Watt PSU, and a Zalman 9700 Pro heatsink and i dont know whether to buy a second 9800GT SuperClocked and oc it to match my first one which is running at 700/1800/2.0Ghz and my Intel Quad Core is at 3.6GHZ giving me 14,990 in 3dmark 06 with a single GPU. Or should I just buy a single High End GPU. Even though dual 9800GT's OC gives better performance unles you get a 285.
I personally like the single high end GPU because I've had problems with running two cards in SLI (one card fails or malfunctions, etc). However, like you said, you would have to get a 285 to match or beat the performance of the two cards, I would go with whichever solutions is cheaper. It seems that your rig already has high quality parts, so if money is an issue, go with the 9800gt, if not, go with the 285. A single high end card is more reliable.
I was thinking on going EXTREME budget and getting 2 8600GT's but then I thought... what type ofa budet includes affording a SLI motherboard :) So I might as well go with a single 8800gt of ebay or somthing.
With 2 8800gt in SLI I was averaging 60 FPS (without fraps). The frame rate would drop to 30-45 ish in extreme fire fights or graphic intense sequences, but for most of the game it was staying in the high 50's range. A single 8800gt will be perfect for this game if you have a decent processor and some good RAM.
Oh yeah. Forgot about the 200 series. If you can grab a 260 GTX or even a 250 GTS definitely go for it. The 8 Series is getting pretty old at this point.
Aww man, the 260GTX cost the same price of a brand new playstation 3. Even though I've never owned a console, (apart from a PS2) it hurts knowing that a single graphics card cost the same price as a console.
Plus, everyone knows what the Dev's do... they make stupidly overkill system requirments to play one game.
Somtimes I honestly think of leaveing PC gaming behind me. AWW WHAT AM I SAYING? SLAP ME OUT OF IT!!!!
The name of the song is Blow Me Away by Breaking Benjamin. And I'll try to get a multiplayer vid going, but i'm more of a xbox 360 gamer now so i might post something from that.
Yeah, you should be able to run this game fine with any settings. A quad processor with a 9600 should be able to handle anything the game throws at it.
I'm playing with everything at the highest possible option at 1600x1200 resolution. My moniter is a 22" widescreen. I mostly get 60 fps (fraps counted), but in extreme firefights the lowest i every got was around 35-40. Overall, good performance. As you can see from this video, I don't get any choppy frames or anything. The 8800gt is still a great card for games like these.
sorry, just one more question. you say that your playing at the highest possible settings, does that include dx10 and 4xAA? Also, do you have any af enabled?
yeah a nice rig from like 2006-2007. of course it can still play gow really well but my q6600 an 2 way sli 9800 GTX+ is alot smoother. but yes nice enough rig

Anthon6212 2 years ago
You can probably play on mid/high settings. Or high settings with a lower resolution. You probably won't be able to run the game smoother than i am.
DivineDoodle93 2 years ago
you'll play the game in high settings with no problem...

this game is SO GRAY. i'm probably gonna get it anyway though
rackslap 3 years ago
A little bit of it is the quality of the video recording itself, but this game definitely has a "dark" setting to it.

8800GT is a great card for any game on the market. The next step for noticeable performance improvements would be the 260GT.

sorry, just one more question. you say that your playing at the highest possible settings, does that include dx10 and 4xAA? Also, do you have any af enabled?
clank120 3 years ago
Yup, dx10 enabled as well as 4 times AA. However, I'm not sure about the AF as there isn't an option to control the amount. Looks great in any case.
