Thanks for your teaching, Venerable. I really need to hear your words today. I feel afflicted with many different thoughts and feelings. I felt pain and suffering and sadness, as well as elation and relief. Lam Rim meditation has been helpful in gaining more stabilization of my mind. All of this has been quite agitating.
Thank you for your sensible remarks, Venerable. A person who crates chaos and schemes for the death of innocents like Bin Laden unfortunately creates the justification for others to act to protect life and peace, though it's certainly nothing to take joy in.This was printed at the Interdependence Project website yesterday: “In the Shambhala warrior tradition, we say you should only have to kill an enemy once every thousand years.” –Chogyam Trungpa
@EthylRosenberg Sorry for saying this out loud, but the reason Yogins, Lamas, Sufis and other enlightened teachers go to teach in the US and the West in general is not because they are more open or because you are Shambhala warriors. They could have been going to Afghanistan or The Republic of Congo, the Sudan or elsewhere. But they choose to teach where the root of the problem is, where people have no renounciation, whatsoever. Avoid trying to justify any countries foreign politics with dharma.
You shouldn't worry about politics venerable, Awliya Allah (you'd call them Bodhisattvas) will go to hell and free Bin Laden from there (eventually). There is a larger problem to that though. Salafism (and Wahhabism) 2 major distortions in Islam (bidah) are widely supported by the US govt. They say one thing, and they do another. I recommend not taking them too seriously. The killing was a way to cut down on military expenses due to Bernanke's bankruptcy speech. The kill might not even be real.
Thank you Venerable for these comments
