Can someone help me out? I see that most of the dancers on YouTube have their foreheads decorated with tilaka (the red dot) is this common in performance and if so, why?

The performance originated from Bali of Indonesia. N they are hindus , The heritage is very rich in terms of culture and temples.

@sayyid14 you don't know shit about history of the South East Asia. How do you know who copied who? were you born then? from a book? I bet whatever you are trying to prove is merely an "ASSUMPTION". Thai Khmer and Laos has shared the same culture as far back as the 12th century. So there is to be, certainly, some slight differences between our culture. Nonetheless, all these similarities can be derived from the same root. I think it's a waste of time to think who owns what, who copies what.

im friend of dewi..she lives in los angeles now for amonth left...will go back to bali end of october.she is the dancer and coreographer of this Daradewi dance, and can only perform by Gamelan nrittadewi -Ubud-Bali
