If you notice, the photo story file is saved as a .wmv which can be easily imported into movie maker. the author didn't mention this, but it works perfectly.

I've never been able to do it in Vegas.

But have thought of how to do it using after effects

Oh sorry, I thought you were referring to another video, and I was brain dead when I replied to that. Photo Story 3 only works for images, but Ken Burns video effects are in iMovie and other programs... maybe Microsoft will add it to a future version of Movie Maker? =P

You're right, WMM includes the ease in and out effects, but this video concentrates on setting where the Ken Burns effect starts and where it goes, as you can do in iMovie. For example, you could start the panning on top of someone's face, even if their face is in the bottom-right hand corner of the screen.
