That wasn't even a whole minute long, but may have been the funniest video of all! I loved how Val couldn't seem to make eye contact with the camera and Tristan couldn't STOP making it. Everyone's reactions were somehow priceless.

If you have a problem with Val saying she needs to play a role of the woman, then why don't you have a problem with Tristan wanting to put his hands around her neck?

I personally don't think that Val was trying to undermine the role of women and insinuate that all women roles are cooking and cleaning. He was obviously joking and Nancy knew that or else she wouldn't be laughing.

I love all three of these people. They all have their own sense of humor.

@heybossanova Well to be fair, what IS in this video is Val making Nancy Grace giggle with a sarcastic response to her sarcastic interpretation of his intstruction to "play the role of the woman" in a dance "about Man and Woman". I like Val, I think he had an unflattering debut but is a charming and funny guy with an interesting range of interests, and I hope that he gets a chance to establish himself on the show, and that he learned something from his first season.

If he fails to connect to his next partner, and there are more packages of him like the one that preceded their quickstep, then I will make a mental note to concede some of your points. But I really think that Elisabetta was an unfortunate match for him, and that he was not as hard on her as Maks has been on Hope or Cheryl or Karina have been on Rob or JR, they just had no bond and she didn't take critical instruction well AT ALL.

@kc7483a Maks, Cheryl & Karina are not in this video so I saw no need to comment on them. BTW, I think Cheryl & Karina have been great with their partners. But Maks was out of line cussing out Hope like that.

Just so it's clear, I think pros should be assertive, stern, etc. They get angry. They're human. But there's a way to express anger that isn't caustic. Val was contemptuous & scornful of Elisabetta. That's poisonous. All Elisabetta did was ask him to stop talking to her that way.

@heybossanova Perhaps the scripted intro lines and 3 min of packages on the 2 shows featuring him didn't manage to convey his entire personality, and in a relaxed setting with 2 people he considers friends he conducts himself differently than on a competitive reality show where he has been given the professional opportunity of a lifetime and is under pressure to prove himself as a pro with the least known "celeb" of the season, who also appeared to have the least charisma & worst attitude?

@kc7483a I'm not talking about the in-show packages. I'm talking about other press. I love DWTS and I was interested in other pros. Those feature pieces -- like on Good Morning America and different entertainment shows -- also covered Val. That's how I saw him.

Oh i have no doubt that it was invented persona that he was putting on but that's the persona he chose independent of editing from the show.

@kc7483a Also, I found Elisabetta really charming. She was unknown. That was a problem. But her excitement at being on the show and her gratitude that she got past the first show was evident.

Unfortunately, the black hole of Val and his too-cool-for-school attitude and callous treatment of sucked the joy out of their presentation.

Elisabetta did not have a bad attitude. Val was nasty and scornful to her. Elisabetta had a right to stand up for herself.

Yes, the packages with Elisabetta were highly unflattering to both of them, but I think you are reaching to assess and condemn his character from a minute of footage. As for that song about Karina (or the line about Karina in a song about Maks), both Tony and Mark were on stage w/ him, and they +Maks tweeted it. Gross from all of them, I agree

@kc7483a I'm NOT saying that Val abuses or IS violent to his dance partners. I'm saying his dance style is angry. that the storyline that he choreographs is too often rough & demeaning to the woman in the dance story.

I don't follow him on twitter, but Vals tweets get RTed into my feed. I just saw this: " iamValC VaL @LaceySchwimmer has officially RAPED my twitter feed :)" He's obviously trying to be witty. But even in his choice of jokes he chooses like words that are anti-woman.

Look, Val is a poseur. At the start of this season, all the press he was doing, he was playing the part of the arrogant douchebag. I guess trying to copy his brother Maks' persona. Now, I guess he's seen the public is tired of that braggadocio, so in his interviews with Nancy Grace (not in this video) he's playing a kinder gentler role .... what he thinks is the public's perception of Tristan. What Val's doing there is inauthentic. He needs to get his own personality.

You mean the Rumba during movie week where he and Daria were portraying a man walking in on his cheating wife and their subsequent break up? The one with Peta ended with him on his knees in front of her, hugging her waist. I think that was it for his pro rumbas.

He has an aggressive style of dancing, but I don't see any misogyny/glorification of domestic violence through dance or whatever you're trying to point out.

Nancy sure seems seems to like him, he's clearly just teasing her.

@kc7483a I never said anything about Val glorifying "domestic violence." i said he rages, humiliates and abandons in his dance, which Val has done. He's done the "rage" rumba more than once. He just has a crude, demeaning way around women --- in his dance style, in his teaching of Elisabetta, and some of his so-called "hip hop."

Val is unpleasant. There are lots of wonderful, charismatic, amazing dancers out there. There's nothing magic about the last name "Chmerkovskiy."

Seriously, Val skeeves me out. Most of the pro rumbas he does on DWTS he choreographs so that he rages or abandons or humiliates his partner. He does the angriest rumba choreography.

He was completely arrogant and insulting and belittling to Elisabetta.

When Maks and Karina broke up, Val put out a "rap" tjhat was a disgusting slam against Karina. Oh yeah, he's a wannabe hip hop artist.

His 1950s attitude about women isn't a joke.
