  • AWESOME "talking head" style video!

Reminded me of the good warm vibes in Spanish culture climate - which is like another PLANET compared to Scandinavia.

  • hi steve . just love your videos to death . i'm in the process learing portuguese with a great book called the berlitz self teacher and its very promising . i just visted the lingq and looks like a great way to learn languages . hope to see more languages avaibale soon . maybe one way we can get many more languages available is for people to donate to help fund more added languages . just an idea . take care and god bless you and what you do . you are an insperation to language lovers . peace

  • I vote Latin should be offered at LingQ. I have all these Latin books and I don't have time to go through them... but I am totally crazy about Latin for some reason. I don't think I'm the only one interested either. :)

  • One day Paige, one day. I cannot say when. Get you friends on LingQ. The more resources we have the sooner we can add new features and new languages. -:)

  • @paige4president

I agree, latin should be brought to lingq

  • Nice video.

You are so right about having motivation or passion for the language you are trying to learn. For example, nothing beats love or a desire to have a boyfriend or girlfriend of a certain country/culture to motivate singles to learn a particular language.

  • Steve you are a smart man and a great teacher thanks for all your videos [=

  • I have to say good video but i disagree with you on statement about learning English, Spanish, and Chinese. It's a GREAT thing!! And its a great thing because it breaks down language barriers. If you know all three you can communicate with a lot of people, and if more people learn the languages, then that only encourages communication.

  • latin on lingq sounds like a great idea!

  • I completely agree with you. I am currently trying to learn many Chinese dialects like Shanghainese and the Chongqing dialect and whenever I talk to others about this interest, the typical response I get is "everybody in Mainland China can speak Mandarin, stop wasting your time". It seems to me that most people are learning a language to get a job and do not care about the culture behind it. This is probably why most of the books written about language learning are test oriented.

  • Good luck in your studies and thanks for letting me know that the other video on language learning and the brain did not load properly.

  • An excellent video, so many true points here. I caught your recent French interview also, that was very interesting!

  • Thank you so much!

  • Awesomeness... You must still be in Europe!

  • Obviously, I didn't watch this video before I made the comment. My bad lol.

  • Thank you!!!

A very refreshing and encouraging perspective!

  • Como te vas!!! Latin i wouldn't learn unless you plan on learning all the European languages as a profession.... Latin is a dead language and you will only use it for vocabulary reference. My friend had a Spanish maid, and she didn't learn Spanish, but it's alot easier for her to learn it. (hehe PROcess) (in my Japanese book i learn little bits of Grammar since the grammar isnt so obvious. Its Genki 1-2, it isnt INTENSE grammar but its just like a "by the way")

  • strangely... i have quite a bit of fluency in Japanese, alot more than I do in Chinese. I think its because I stopped caring about my accent and things like that. Also.... i am beginning to gain an accent in english... should i be concerned?

  • vietnam will soon be the 'new china'. if you really want to get a jump start learn vietnamese folks.

  • funny. you obviously don't have a very good grasp on statistics.

  • What makes you say that?

  • vietnam and china are clearly the economies that are leading east asia since 97-98 economic collapse that occurred in asia. vietnam is following close in line with chinese policy. american companies and others are already starting to make the move to vietnam. anyone who denies this is, is oblivious to what has been occurring the past decade.

  • great video as usual.

  • Great video. Did you get your haircut in Portugal like you wanted?

  • Awesome video...very enthusiastic..

  • great video!. I have motivation issues of myself >.>

  • great video once again
