Maybe to someone who's never listened to anything by Pain of Salvation. Nervous pained vocals are not exclusive to any one band, least of all the nupuke garbage that is Korn.
@Eospag Yah, I mean. not only his voice but also his look. The dreads and stuff.
But dude, don't be that guy lol, KoRn did a great job at mixing the two styles. If you look at it, it's pretty much what Fear Factory has been doing all along and I'm sure you can enjoy FF just as well.
It's just not KoRn's usual cup of tea, but if you look at it closely, especially as a musician, they change their tea pretty much at every album.
@thedeadserv Yeah I saw the dreads in the Restless MV lol. Also yeah I love how KoRn changes their sound every album and all but I just really can't stand dubstep. I loved Untouchables, Untitled and Self titled the most out of everything though.
@Eospag oh, so you're a late fan, I see lol... I've been listening to them since Issues. I only really enjoyed them until Take a Look in the Mirror, but then it got weird. Or maybe I outgrew them personally. I don't know. But I can't feel the angst I did in tracks like Good God.
Anyway, I can actually enjoy good quality dub step, so that may help a lot on me enjoying the new stuff.
@thedeadserv Well actually I started listening to Korn in '99, I had the first 4 albums and liked em enough. But Untouchables was the album I got just as it was released and I loved it. But yeah all in all i'm picky with music, I don't like R&B, Rap, Country, Pop or Dubstep. Just Grunge, Stoner, Alternative, Progressive type stuff and Metal especially. lol.
@Eospag heh, that's kinda surprising, considering how early you got to know them...
but I'll just be glad I have a wider selection of likes :D makes life much easier in terms of music :D but I AM picky with my stuff. It has to be unique in it's own style. I hat listening to stuff that sounds like everything else. In that sense, Skrillex have a very unique take on dub step/electronica wich are my fav styles of electronic music in general.
@mattraff1919 Bilateral is my favorite album of the past decade, and thats saying something considering bands such as periphery, ihsahn, devin townsend and sikth have released some classic fucking albums, prog metal is the best it ever was!
Goddamnit...that intro was sick as fuck...then the vocals and the rest of the song started...disappointment.

Sounds nothing like Korn. And besides, Korn's new album is a piece of dubstep shit.

why in the fuck are you people talking about KORN?
terminalfrost22 2 months ago 12
@terminalfrost22 Because if that's what they're used to, this is melting their faces off, and soon their heads will explode.
artistcblasphemy 2 months ago 7
@terminalfrost22 Maybe because you can hear a likeness in it. Duh
SpykeZ0129 1 month ago
@terminalfrost22 people are talking about Korn because the voicing the Einar uses is very likely influenced by Korn.
And even if that's not the case, it is undeniably very similar. Especially in the second bridge (7:25)! It's outright obvious.

@thedeadserv Ah, that's why my first thought was "Hmmm. They need a new singer, but this is still pretty awesome."

7:24 Am I the only one that thinks he sometimes sounds A LOT like Jonathan Davis? Definitely a major influence in his style.

@thedeadserv I 100% agree ..... He sounds just like him.

@thedeadserv Glad i'm not the only one here who likes KoRn, lol. Well anything but their dubstep crap. And he does sound similar to him at that part.
