@WattToSay Actually Ioan Gruffudd is just a little older than Laurence is. Laurence is only in his early thirties in the books, which is not that old at all. Ioan Gruffudd is nearly forty. Gibson (50's) and Crowe (mid 40's) are both much too old.

@Alantiel. I like Gareth as well, Torchwood is one of my favourite shows. I don't think that he can show the emotion the role needs, though. Laurence loves Temeraire very much, and the movie needs an actor who can show that. I don't think Gareth has the face for it, but Peter Davison, who played the 5th Doctor in Doctor Who during the 1980s could definitely pull it off. He looks a lot like how I picture Laurence, and could show the emotion well.
I love Ioan, but my choice for Laurence is Gareth David-Lloyd. Torchwood fans know him as Ianto Jones. He just fits so well with my mental image of Laurence.
Kind of stupid to start the trailer with the only battle name thrown in being Waterloo. If we're already at Waterloo dude, then the war between France and the Coalition is over and Napoleon is defintely out of the game.

I haven't read the books, but this (and my weird obsession with the Napoleonic Wars and dragons, haha) makes me want to! Very good trailer! The only thing I would suggest is making the font slightly bigger so that it's easy to read.
@ladyariande Peter Jackson bought the rights for a film adaptation. But that's already a few years ago. In the meantime let's focus on the Game of Thrones HBO tv series next year and hope Jackson will make the Temeraire series as well.

Apparently they aren't going to do a movie anymore, but a miniseries instead. Although originally i was a little bummed about it, but when you think about it, thats probably for the best. It would be easy to put more details from the book into the movie, which i think eragon was seriously lacking which made it soooo bad. I really hope all ends well for Temeraire. =D

Temeraire series are great books, but I dont think it can turn into a good movie. Its rare for good books to become good films. Eragon series are very popular and i like them, but the film Eragon sucks.

Oh my gosh that was great! DragonHeart is my favorite movie, if Temeraire looks even close to as good as Draco looks it will be awesome! And I can't believe I'm not the only one pictures Capt. Laurence as Horatio Hornblower! Great trailer, I hope the movie will be just as good.

only that laurence is acually like in his 30-40s so a young acter shouldn't really play he ands also i would like to meat sum 1 who could play maximus cosidering his is about 50ish tons

Apparently they aren't going to do a movie anymore, but a miniseries instead. Although originally i was a little bummed about it, but when you think about it, thats probably for the best. It would be easy to put more details from the book into the movie, which i think eragon was seriously lacking which made it soooo bad. I really hope all ends well for Temeraire. =D

The song is called "Freedom Fighters" by Two Steps From Hell. They do trailer music. This song was used in the new Star Trek movie trailer. =)

Interesting... the only thing is that I think of Laurence as very clean cut since he's the proper British captain and all. Maybe if Holloway shaved and ponytailed his hair... I could definitely see that.

Well, I mean they will if Jackson is able to follow the books, and they don't get all Hollywood-ified, I mean. I could just see some stupid movie exec insisting on a hip-hop soundtrack or some stupid thing like that :/

I think that if done well (which I'm counting on Jackson to do) that this could be an amazing film. Let's just hope it comes to fruition.

it gave me chills too but it sucks that its not real just exerts from other movies EX: Dragon Heart (1:04) and Eragon (1:54) I am so proud of my self for knowing my movies!!!! Anywho it was Great with a capital G better than i could have done! me reading the 5th book and i believe that they alll deserve to have a movie based on them i will not give up hope they WILL be on the big screen! (i hope...) hehe

Temeraire series are great books, but I dont think it can turn into a good movie. Its rare for good books to become good films. Eragon series are very popular and i like them, but the film Eragon sucks.

Amazing..I love it..I own all the Horatio movies and all the Temeraire books..Never did I think I would see the 2 blended..
Now if only someone was smart enough to see this and realize Ioan would be perfect for the part of Laurence..We can only hope:)
