I have a question, I am an electric guitar player and I like to tune down. I'm looking for a distortion to jam with that gives me a nice heavy-choking-growling-low end stoner/doom metal sound. This pedal soundslike it could get the job done, sounds really muddy and dirty but it sounds to me like it sort of squeezes all the notes in your chord into just one monophonic sound, am I listening wrong? is this a good pedal for what I want to?
Wow, nobody is complaining that he uses a pick? Surprising. Usually any video with a bassist using a pick is full of "PICKS SUCK" comments. He's still an amazing bassist.
Before 2:15 I was wondering what it would sound like with a bass. There's nothing wrong with bass leads, but I still don't know what this thing sounds like.
That bass player must throw some real bad ass parties,,,,,,,the ones with motorcycles running up the stairs in the house, cock fights in the backyard, all you can eat spare ribs all the while he plays with his El Grande bass fuzz. Viva la revolucion all night long cabron
Can someone point me in the right direction into getting a pedal that has not so much distortion but sounds more like a cranked tube amp? More like just getting a drive pedal? Every bass distorion I find is just straight up too much for my taste. I just like a little bit of distortion and/or fuzz.
Bobby Vega on bass...one of the best kept secret in the business. This guy CAN play any style..he's got monster chops and he 's a very cool dude, I had the chance to hang out with him on a Fender trip last year...positive funky groovy vibe all the way. When you get the call to sub for Rocco Prestia, you are classified Bad motherfucker instantly.
I feel like this guy is about to tell me he just installed an LCD TV in my camaro. or maybe he'll share his chili rubbed barbecue lamb shakes recipe with me.
He actually does use one. There was an interview with him in and he said he used one sometimes but held it upside down. Maybe thats why you cant really see it.
I have one of those, and it cuts low freq. a lot...next disadvantage is that it's not good in cutting through the mix. I'll get rid of it and try m-80. Though, solo, the el grande sounds wicked...
why did they have to put a Mexican bassist?

I'd love to hear this with some properly played bass, i.e. with the fingers, not a pick.

mjany 2 years ago
that's because the el grande is a FUZZ. you can eq it to set better in the mix, but by definition it fuzzes the fundamental
eyeballjackson 2 years ago
This pedal nails that Ciff Burton sound.

yeah but thats cause its based on the russian big muff. I actually think that might be cheaper, but bigger
