Cashback, by your own anology, the English League and English football in general must have been tougher in decades gone by because the 'Double' was a very very rare achievement and winning 3 league titles on the trot didn't happen for almost 50 years between the 1930s and 1980s. You can't have it both ways. ANYBODY with a knowledge of English football will tell you that in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s the English League had more capable teams than those just in the top 4. Nowadays that's not so true. Cashback, you completely dismiss Borussia Monchengladbach from being a great team. They won more Bundesliga titles in the 1970s than Bayern Munich. They won 5 Bundeligas and had half of the German World Cup and Euro champs squad. Monchengladbach also won 2 UEFA Cups in the 1970s, were runners up twice. They got to 5 European finals in 7 years.
