  • Great vid brother. How long will it take your dog to take a leak on your head once you get all wrapped up. He wanted some face time on the camera too! lol

  • man: "...but we don't need her right now" (mushes dog's face)

dog: "what bitch?" (walks over to man and gets in his face)

dog: "better cut that camera before i whoop that ass!"

  • Very nice. I will try it when I go camping next time. Thank you for sharing.

  • a wool blanket was a life saver at 11000 ft for me. and even wet it kept me warm,

  • Wool blankets stretch, keep tugging and it won't last very long eh?

  • Good job, I carry a 100% wool German blanket, got it off EBay for 19.99.

This trick works good especially on a thick bed of straw.

  • now i know how to make a burrito :)

  • Were did you get that 100 percent wool blanket becos I only have a 30 percent wool blanket

  • First, great instructional!

Next, I must have a blanket like that! What is it and where can I get one--just like it.

    Thank you!

  • @ERICWAGNERSLUCID You want a Heavy-duty 100% pure wool. Sportsman's Guide dot com sells an Italian Military 81 x 64" 100% Wool Blanket for $29.97. I hope this helps.

  • @Pat5725 Thanks! I have an Italian one of those, it's ok. I just picked up a Brun De Vian-Tiran (the "Reale" model, 100% merino wool, 66x90) list 500.00 plus, I got it for 139.00!

  • too bad if you have to piss

  • This is great! I am going to be using a wool blanket for 7 days in Arizona in May. This is a huge help. By the way, my blanket is 66 X 90 and covers me completely, and I even can wrap my head. Brilliant.

  • You look like a burrito

  • Thanks a bunch. Great vid.

  • And in the morning EMERGE AS A BUTTERFLY! !

  • now i know how to make a human burrito

  • What i would really like to know is what blanket are you using mate because i have never seen such a huge blanket in my life. all other blankets are half the size!

  • You could do that, or just cover up.

  • three days later...the tent caught fire..and he took a little too long to get out of his cover..as he was crawling out , he bumped into his dog....

  • @hamrite Which is why wool makes such a great blanket...FIRE RESISTANCE!!

  • no sex then???

  • thanks! great info

  • Awesome. Great video. I only use a wool blanket for camping. It's a lot more comfortable and versatile than a sleeping bag. I'm going to have to try this out.

  • the doooogggg :)))

  • 240p?

  • no offense but this looks like a lot of wasted time and energy when a sleeping bag wraps you up a lot more easily, efficiently and can be a lot more warmer.

  • Awesome dog

  • nicely explained

  • where do you buy ur wool blanket at and wuts the size

  • Love it !Absolutly love it .got me two wool blankets now.tried rappin like you said works ok but i need to loose 30 lbs. or so and would work alot better, lolkeep up the awsome work man, cheers

  • And... you can spring out of your bedroll and figt off any hostile indians which might sneak up on you in the night :) Nice video... I use wool blankets when camping and have never tried your method before, I think I will next time.

  • Love your dog!

  • It looks like your wrapping yourself up for a burial at sea...

  • why would you not want air pockets? dead air space is the best insulator.

  • @doodthisguysawesome Thats true but he is talking about avoiding cold draughts.

  • great vid, thx m8

    lol l love ur dog.

  • I have to say that it looks good, & sounds good in theory, but somehow I can't see me doing this every time I get up for a pee. I also do not like being so restricted in my movement. Just the same, I might give this method a try. Thank you.

Well presented, though I don't like your choice of music!

    With respect & regards.

    A Woodsrunner's Diary.

  • Excellent video.

  • i live in Florida I do not think I need warm even in the dead of winter

  • Man two people don't like wool! That's the only reason I could think of for the dislikes! Great video bro. I use the wool blanket also but can never keep it on me at night. I always wake up with my feet cold. I'm going to give this a try, Thanks for the info.

  • this looks like a native american style wrap.

  • what if an animal come around? you're stuck dude.

  • @DigitalCard What animal? Bears hybernate during winter. And If your in dangerous animal territory what are you doing without a .44 mag? ........city people pffff.

  • Human egg roll!

  • Dog: "WTF?!" =)

  • Great video

  • i roll around way too much for that to work for me

  • Great video. I will have to try that with my Italian wool blanket.

  • great stuff.....and ten minutes later ya gotta get up to pee !

  • Great, great video!!! Keep on giving such a useful tips! Thanks a lot!

  • What's the coldest weather you could sleep comfortably in with a wool blanket?

  • Where can I get a "Teton" Wool blanket like that? I am 6'3" and the regular military blankets are comparatively small.

  • awesome i just used to roll into my blanket. kiler technique............. thanks

  • You swaddled yourself.

  • And right about then (when you're all tucked in) is when you realize you gotta pee! :-)

  • You may stay warm but you are also staying put, i.e. you're wrapped up like a mummy. If I'm ever sleeping in a unsecure locatgion (outdoors) I want to remain mobile. You never know when you may have to jump up and run or fight or whatever. Maybe a bear comes along, maybe a murderer, or maybe a spark from your fire sets your tent ablaze. It may only take 2 or 3 seconds to unwrap yourself, but those seconds may be the difference between living and dieing.

  • @robbykfunk thats were the dog comes in ..cant get a better early warning sentry than mans best friend........

i must admit when he was wrapping his feet..said locking it in...i was thinking on the same lines. this bloke knows his business..cant beat hands on exsperience...when he gets back im buying one of his tarps...

  • funny dog :)

  • lot of work to rap up I'd just get out the Swag as she's done

  • Where can I buy this blanket?

  • nice dog

  • Comment removed

  • lol puppy like "i want some cuddles" then you shove it away. lol

  • Like the Voyageurs of old did back in the 17th century .

  • That's great, thanks. Cute dog too.

  • Hey brother nice video, but your dog stole the show. A dog is a man's best friend.

  • awesome

  • Thank you. Good yob!

  • Hey, thats good-to-know info. Appreciate it. Thumbs up. ~Wolf

  • the dog rocks :)

  • That was awesome! It's like a wool Tamale!. thanks!

  • with that blanket and how you wrapped up with it how cold can you compfortibly go down to. thanks man great vid.

  • I would just take a space BIVY blanket. Its light, warm and cheap.

  • Either you are using a huge blanket or you are pretty short. I use an oversize italian wool blanket and if I wrap my feet like you demonstrate then the blanket barely reaches my shoulders, much less wrap up over my head.

  • I am 6 2 and the blanket is 68 x 90 of merino wool.

  • Thanks for the reply. That explains the difference. I'm 6'3" and my blanket is 64"x82". I'll just have to bring extra wool socks and try this with 1 wrap around my feet.

  • @nwwoodsman Where can I buy this blanket?

  • @nwwoodsman

You owned him with your height :D

  • @heysmithy ur a freaking idiot---just buy a fukkin sleepin bag dude ur wastin precious campin time dude

  • @heysmithy he said START by laying out the blanket DIAGANALLY..not square..i think this is were you went wrong...I'm 6.3.... works for me..

  • now that is what I call maximum use of material. i remember using just a wool blanket when i was in basic training for the Army and out of all the cool stuff they taught us this is one trick that woulda been good to know. good stuff!

  • Damn, this is how my wife sleeps.....she takes all the covers. So one night I did a cover attack and snatched them all. HA...after 20 years....I "Bogarted" the blankets. Her penalty for loud snoring! tee hee

  • looks like a mummy but it's an awesome idea

  • cool! another good idea and very light, inexpesive is to use a car foil windshield sun blocker thing as a heat pad under your body to cushen and reflect the heat. weighs nothing and for about $5 you have an added comfort

  • verry helpfu;l thank you 5/5

  • I'm sorry, but that pour dog, she just wanted to cuddle up with her daddy.

  • @RavenBlaze I agree; the point of the video was the blanket, not the dog however. Still, it would have been nice to see him snuggle up with the pup at the very end. It's a good dog that knows what to do, without being told. She knew what was going on; that's a well trained dog. :)

  • poor lassie looked sad when you pushed her away. :(

  • i folded it inhalf sowed mine up like a sleeping bag, across the bottom and up one side except about 18 inches at the top. workes prity good for me but this is great....great vid.

  • Great trick, I will have to try it. Thanks,

    - Adam

  • Very cool. New info for me.

    Thank you.

  • Way too much work. Especially if you have to get up to pee.

  • @chrestoflexer It is a lot of work but I would still recommend learning how to do this and practice a bit. That way if it's all you have you can still get by.

Also have you priced sleeping bags? Yeesh those can be expensive. This could be an option.

  • I want to sow a zipper on mine. That way it will act like a sleeping bag and i can still unzip it and use it as a blanket.

  • Cool. I'll file that away for future use.

  • That is a great way of maximizing your contact with the blanket. Thanks for the awesome demo!

  • the dog is so cool ;-) hmhm, I wanna sleep too!

  • Nice technique, but wow--I don't think I could stand being this confined. Maybe if there was a blizzard going on...but still it's useful information I will mentally file away.

  • Hey dude, your dog thinks youre strange. Thought i'd let you know. Peace.

  • Comment removed

  • Thanxs for the tips dude, I used that technique recently on a Canoe trip, with a an 8-point hudsons bay blanket...slept better than the old lady in her MEC sleeping bag!!!

  • This is how to prepare a "Lanolin Camper Burrito" for the grizzlies

  • "Lanolin? Lanolin? Like sheeps wool?"

    -Ron Burgandy, Anchorman

  • Nice video. Wonder what the lowest temps this type of setup would still be comfortable at.

  • And when a bear stumbles into your camp at night, you're like a big wool covered burrito!

  • Cool ! Reminds me of how you wrap a newborn

  • RAd Rad Rad! i finally found out how to wrap my feet like you do. GENIUS so comfertable to. i love wool

  • Looks like giant poop or a cigar =D

    But cool.

  • Hey dude!!Great tips man! I really dig it dude! I´ll try it here in Brazil where I live this weekend now. It´s winter here and I´m gonna be spending the nest 3 weekends at our local rocky mountains, so it gets pretty chillie at night. Thank you so much for the tips again, and I´ll let you know how it was, ok?

  • Hey great idea. i used this technique in 17 degree weather (F), slept next to my fire and slept great. this would also work well with an emergency blanket inside too.

  • One more thing - wool blanket = 20 bucks, all that other gear = approx 200.00 - 350.00 bucks for new mid quality.

  • He's trying to teach YOU how to do it. Try this folks. It keeps me warm down to about 25 degrees with some forest fluff under me.

  • Lets take anpther poll : Who takes a tarp, sleeping bag, poncho, and a cold weather jacket with them camping during the fall? The wool blanket covers ALL these except that your sleeping bag weighs 3lb, tarp 1lb, poncho 1lb, jacket 3lbs. Total 8 lbs wool blanket 2.5 lbs

Remember multi purpose gear is the key to lighter weight rigs. Of course you have to have the knowledge base to be able to utilize the gear you have.

You can wrap and unwrap pretty fast with this rig.

  • How does a wool blanket take on the role of a tarp? He even has a tarp with him...

  • Ever see a waterlogged sheep? Short term under a moderate rain wool will repel water. NOT waterproof though. The difference is that the wool blanket will keep you warm even when wet.

  • get up in the middle of the night to pee? do that again?

who wants to have copperheads & diamondbacks in your tent at night? skunks? raccoons? blackflies?mosquitos?

in the old days they actually used big pins to pin blankets into bags. they also made the blankets from rabbit strips & woove them together. i love the old stuff & ways but it is a new day. read book Cache Lake. Best outdoor book ever written but long forgotten.

  • where can I get a wool blanket like that?

  • Army Surplus stores are a good place to look, although the only wool blankets from the Army Surplus store near me were quite small. I don't know if that's a general Army blanket trait, or just by poor luck, but you could try looking there.

  • thanks

  • Good stuff man.

What's it like for sleeping on your front, not everyone can sleep on their side right? :)

  • what about people like me who roll all over the place

  • Just strap yourself in and pray the dragon doesn't notice ;) :D

  • Pendleton Woolen Mills sells a nice wool blanket MADE IN THE USA. Check out their Yakima, inexpensive yet really cozy

  • what is the name of the song

  • Nice wrapping, better then a human burrito.

  • How low can the temp get and you still be comfortable without fire?

  • How much does your wool blanket weigh? Would your wool blanket keep you warm at 30 or 40 degrees? At what temperature would you need your sleeping bag? Thanks

  • Great Vid thanks for sharing, my dogs an awkward sod like that too ;o)

  • wool sausage!

Good vid! I really wanted to know how to not use a sleeping bag since i dont like them. Even tho the blanket seems very constricted, i dont think I will find them as much so as I do with sleeping bags!

Dogs must pity us for all the hassle we need for a good nites sleep!

  • Nicely made video! What are the dimension of the blanket? And how tall are you?

  • The dimensions of the blanket are 66" x 90" and I'm 6' 2".

  • Excellent Tips thanks for video 5/5

  • Great video. I use a similar type of wrap with my blanket but you have many imporvements. I will be trying your ideas out next time. It will be interesting to try and use your wrap in a hammock as that is a very popular camping style in the UK.

    Sean the Silver Fox

  • great video. no part of the blanket left unused. is that the teton wool blanket from your site?

  • Yes, that is the Teton.

  • HAH i love it..i too have trouble keeping the dogs out of my videos!!..great stuff though..

  • Great suggestions. Thanks for the video.
