I disagree, I think she IS singing live - you can tell by the shakiness of her voice and the way it matches her timing visually. If she re-recorded you'd be able to tell - like with Britney Spears - but this is not like that.

rizwan1983 - I agree with you; she wasn't singing live but what she did was re-record her vocals with a different arrangement to give a "live" feel and they simply played it back along with a live band. This is really common with singers nowadays because they wish to preserve their voices and keep a strong live performance, especially if they have to dance and sing.

The '80s - 90s artists are honestly, well, the majority of them anyway, better than the ones today. rizwan1983 - I agree with you; she wasn't singing live but what she did was re-record her vocals with a different arrangement to give a "live" feel and they simply played it back along with a live band. This is really common with singers nowadays because they wish to preserve their voices and keep a strong live performance, especially if they have to dance and sing.

Actually you guys are wrong.. a lot of the 80s fashion has already returned. Fashion always goes in waves of what is hot and what is not. Some years ago the 70s were totally hot again, same for 80s more or less now.

The '80s - 90s artists are honestly, well, the majority of them anyway, better than the ones today. It just sickens me to see rap songs about "hoes" and other retarded stuff on the top of the charts, and rapping takes little to no skill whatsoever. Paula and the other artists you speak of actually have true talent; I wish I had grown up listening to them!

Wow! Paula's great! Her voice is actually really nice and as always, her dancing is amazing! She was and is still in great shape (even Kathy Griffith agrees--and she loves to make fun of Paula). I love watching her old performances- no one does it better than Paula!

I'm no expert on being able to tell live singing vs lip-syncing, BUT THAT PERFORMANCE SOUNDS LIVE, I think she's really singing there.

Paula was soooo cute....with her non-singing self! LOL. I have never heard such a thin voice but have been so delighted by a performance. I'm generally hard on non-singers but the charm in her stage presence is just to infectious here to ignore, bad vocals and all!

im not going to get into an argument about who is a better dancer. they are both great dancers.. madonna trained as a member of alvin ailey's dance troupe and also at the rochester school of ballet. so.. sure.. she isn't as trained maybe but still definitely a valid dancer. and madonna is/was WAY in better shape.. that was my only point.

Madonna could sing and dance better than paula abdul. madonna was in better shape. neither one are great singers, but madonna could perform this way for hours at a time during her tours. she is singing on top of pre-recorded vocals. everyone does that, it's no big deal, but there is no way that all of the vocals are live.
