  • @ussoldierrail Is it me or is the engineer looking at you.LOL Think he was giving you a show! TOO COOL,, brother he is even peeking over the counsel at ya. Now that is great. Last week we had a CSX crew at vickors bring me onboard and give me a view and then a good old DASH 8 smoke show moving out a coal drag.

  • Awesome, Love that power. Great Post

  • I got to do this at age 9 :D he let me in the cab and rev up that throtte!

  • The GOD OF THUNDER!

  • Awesome! It sounds great on my speakers too. Love the Geeps!

  • Chuck Norris yawning

  • @231johnjohnson thanks for the laugh. loved it.

  • It sounds beautiful on my speakers.Nice catch!

  • If that was a GE, it would have blown the turbo and started on fire!

  • @JDeereGP Give me a break dude.

  • @roundhouser Whatever!!!

  • @roundhouser I don't support GE for the bailout they took and the way they do business!!!!!!

  • @JDeereGP Oh really? Im sure everyone at GE is in tears because you dont support them.

  • Love turbo sound when they shut the throttle.

  • Brilliant!!

  • NICEAND LOUD,why were thay in fulllthrotle??

  • love that sound you cont beat the BNSF

  • LOVE IT!

  • This might be a dumb question but what kind of engine is in these beasts? The ONR has tons of GP38-2's and to me they sound like EMD 567 but I've heard that their 645's.

  • @trainguyONR The GP38-2's use a 16 cylinder 645 engine that's roots blown like the 567 engines, so it sounds a lot like them. The GP39-2 uses a 12 cylinder turbocharged variant of the 645 called the 645E3, which is the same engine used in the GP and SD40's, so they sound alike, the GP39-2 just used 4 less cylinders.

  • @jackc4g63 Ah thanks for that valuable piece of info. I've been wondering that for ages.

  • Why is a railyard named after a living movie actor?

    JUST KIDDING!!!

  • Job 119 uses a variety of power these days, sometimes they use different power on a weekly or monthly basis, iv'e seen them use a freshly painted GP28 and an SD40-2 earlier in the year.

  • Listen to that GP! Where in seattle is this exactly? I haven't seen this yard yet I don't think... I'm over in everett. *****

  • Oh yeah!

  • Oh yeah! Listen to that Geep thunder! What an great capture of that awesome sound.

The non-turbo units have a sound all their own. And mix in the sound of the turbo on the GP39-2 and it is simply music to my ears.

    Well done!

    Rick

  • Probably not reversing..thats why the second engine is facing back the other way.. Its not a car it cant just move up the hill and all of a sudden shift to reverse..and more than likely theres an engine on the end of the line facing back the same way as the green engine so they could manuever both ways..Cool video tho

  • a loco moves just as good forward or backward doesnt matter which way its facing

  • I'm pretty sure due to the fact these run electric motors, the engines themselves couldn't care less which way it's going, its just running electricity the opposite way through the motor. Just a guess xD

  • you are correct.

  • @Railfan021 diesel ELECTRIC locos do not have mechanical transmission like a car, They have electric transmission to electric motors, which turn equally as well in either direction. Several fallen flags formerly ran long hood forward into the 70's for better protection of the crews at crossings. Pick up some books at the library or do some online reading to study up. you may find it quite interesting..... instead of guessing.

  • Sweet!

  • cool

  • Ahh yes good old job 119 a little south end trimming for you. Thats a great yard to film at, if I see you go ahead and throw up a wave and we will drop you a nice horn honk

  • i like that turbo sound too

  • i've always loved that sound at 54 sec even as a kid it sounds like a monster

  • The sound of power.

  • what a great sound!

    Good job!!!
