This album didn't grab me right away, but this song haunts my dreams now. It is otherworldly, minimalistic but it feels epic. Great song, great album.
I'd like to hear a Burial remix of this. This is their Burial track, or if you prefer their trip-hop track. Soul music filtered through dark future party hallways. Yeah it's also their closest ever to a (good era) U2 track but only in the sense U2 was very dubby + soul for a while there in the early 90s. As idiotic as Grammys are, when nearly all great artists (for instance Portishead this year, or even Marvin Gaye in the '70s) did not get proper attention, I'm happy for this song's recognition.
It's amazing how many different interpretations this is pulling from everyone. The mark of a quality song is that it provokes thought. Thom Yorke is a legendary musician.
I think this song is about a married woman having an affair with Thom. He is talking to the the woman in the song, telling her he does not want to be friends, just fuck buddies. Her live is crashing down because of it, but Thom just says forget about your house of cards and ill do mine, meaning forget about all your fake bindings to your husband and your fake life and ill fuck you better than you have ever been fucked. Hey, Thom's a great musician, but he is also a dude too, just like us..
very nice - this hits me as more of a casual, laid back look at the destruction of our modern society ... like 'forget about your house of cards', 'the infrastructure will collapse' without all the screaming.
the end is inevitable, throw your keys in the bowl, kiss your husband good night, we're done
hadn't thought about that, but i think you got it perfectly. radiohead blows my mind, they just never stop. How they're not famous poets is incredible : P
yep sorry about me Ive a raging foot fetish (the only reason I keep my brainwashing tv in the corner of the rooms polaticians can lie to me) is becouse its three foot by two foot and stands on four feet its all a lot a feet. but Ido love that crazy hazy guitar thing just as much feet
The music has a bit of a Smashing Pumpkins feel in the beginning, a little like "Rhinocerous" off of "Gish". Only, in as much as I like The Pumpkins, RadioHead is even better.
who cares what kind of guitars they use, stuidiointernigga, they can still play guitar amazingly. it doesnt matter what you use, its how you play it. its more colorful and unique and it fits with what he is singing about. so do everyone a favor and shut the hell up.

Horrible sounding guitars, I hate that telecaster sound, Les Pauls rule, I still don't understand why musicians use those terrible thin and glassy sounding Strats and Teles.
Some Advice to Radiohead, buy some Les Pauls for the next album and use a better guitar amp, those guitars sound like shit.
lol dude shut up, this is great song, no matter what the fuck there playing, and by the way , you think they didnt want it to sound like after weeks of recording? jeesh, i could understand not like telecasters, but dont say it sounds like shit because you dont like the guitars there using
I don't know, I'll ask my brain shall I? I press play, I listen, I don't like it. Do people need to provide reasons why they don't enjoy listening to something now? Why is YouTube full of so many musical snobs? A genuine music lover will embrace all people's tastes, that is the beauty of art.
You can see the general ignorance of people in the 3 thumbs down given to a simple comment "I don't like it".
(I'm only joking). I love this song, I was talking to someone from work who found
'I don't want to be your friend
I just want to be your lover'
pretty strange and uncomfortable being sang by Thom Yorke. I understood him, but it's been a long time since Creep and I think Thom's allowed to grow up.
radiohead underrated I don't think so ...they just wanna keep out of the spotlights ...everybody knows they are lonely at the top ( sonic youth ...Second :)
Sometimes in our lives we hear a band, piece of music etc that touches something inside of us, first time I ever heard The Smith's (Anne Nightingale session, driving home down the M1) "The Specials" in a tiny dive somewhere in South London 1979? Oasis "Definitely Maybe" first day release on a train coming back from Manchester, This Album!!! driving back from France the day after its Download release, it's got that special something hasn't it?
