I'm in the same boat with jstyles, can we ask the specs of your mac to know just how high in speed we might need to go to be able to edit .mts in real time on preview screen without lag?
I have a 3.06Ghz iMac 24" 6gb Ram, (about a year and a half old) seems to handle everything just fine. We have G5 tower - quad 2.5's here, some single 2.0 Ghz G5 towers I would try it on maybe to give you an idea.
iSkysoft video converter is awesome for converting almost any video file into almost any other. MTS files asI said are easily added to iMovie andf then iMove has a setting where you can simply upload complete with tags and description to youtube. BUT if you wish to upload a 1080p from iMovie, I forgo that step and simply export to quicktime using the 1080p settings. Ill post a video later today on how to post to youtube at 1080p using iMovie, showing settings and all. Hope that helps for now.
I'll respond better when over back home, but the mrs files import directly using iMovie that comes with the system. I also have a cheap and very cool program for the Mac that I use for the 1080p stuff. iMovie Uploads easily automatically at 720p which to be honest is just great for 90% of users. My bro in the UK can only watch 480p without having a slow experience.
I was thinking of getting a mac for my hf200 - do you think it does the job? My pc can't even playback one second of the MTS fie. It lags major and I can't do anything with file. I love the camera, but can't do anything with the video
Excellent info, thank you.
Now off to check out the forum.
