  • I want to be her in my next life

  • I saw this. 4th row orchestra. It was amazing. Ann Reinking and Bebe Neuwirth. Perfect.

  • @kkay2605 JEALOUS!!!!!!!

  • 5 people dont want to be famous.

  • In 9:05 her arms are looking like slowly moving snakes ;]

  • She is this role. She owns the choreography - she performs it as if she choreographed it. Cuz she did.

  • Saw the original Broadway revival cast, with the exception of Ann who had left by then--July, 1997. Marilu Henner was Roxie. The show as a whole made little impact on me at the time. Maybe jetlag? We also didn't have the best seats. I think we were about 3/4 of the way back in the orchestra section. Good seats, but not great; it was hard to see facial expressions. I do recall loving Bebe and being utterly shocked at Mary's reveal! Henner was good but I would have loved to see Ann's unique take.

  • @LaMisereHQ ORIGINAL BROADWAY CAST? Did you know that this show originally opened in June of 1975?

  • @pudgeuncle That's why she put "revival" at the end of it; relax.

  • @LaMisereHQ Sorry I missed your reference to "revival cast". I saw the original. Reinking was great in both productions but aged like a fine wine. In the original, she was more of a Gwen Verdon copy. WIth this revival, she was a star!

  • I love how all of her movements are smooth and elegant, still so precise. Just amazing!!

  • I love how smooth and elegant, and still precise all of her movements are! Just amazing!

  • Gosh isn't she just the best? Superb dancer. Every movement matters with her, as it should with any serious dancer.

  • Ann is great! And the Fosse moves are always the funnest.

  • jaw dropping amazing

  • she is the textbook definition of sexy OMFG!!!!

  • She is a genius

  • Ann reinking! Best pair of legs on broadway hehehe

  • Is she made of gum or rubber? She IS great!

  • omg!

    she is so good!

    congratulations!

  • Luv it.

  • she's just fabulous!

  • She's amazing!

  • ela eh demais!

  • ...it's her choreography as well. ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-chhhh!!!

  • That laugh. My GOD.

  • @itarecormon In the script, Roxie is described as "20-30"

  • @TheShiksaGoddess But, Gwen Verdon was 50 when she originated the part. I think it was meant for a woman in her 40s.

  • @toobusywriting Yes but not only did Gwen look like she was 30 at the time, she was MARRIED to Bob Fosse! I have the script. I think circumstance and star casting usually allows for Roxie to be older than scripted.

  • @TheShiksaGoddess I'm not sure she looked, or even moved, 30 judging from the Merv Griffin clip, BUT yes, I get your point. She prob sold it better. It is kind of funny to see certain actresses sing "Me and My Baby" sometimes, though! lol

  • this is classic....amazing

  • Who's the dancer on the left side of the screen in the first 5 seconds? Yum.

  • this is pure brilliance.

  • Hehehehehe that laugh at the beginning is superbly EVIL :D

  • Those snake arms are to die for!

  • Guys, will you hush! Look at Ann act and dance! She just exudes style and purpose! Look at those hands and arms! She's SOOOoo expressive and sharp and intricate!

  • She wasn't impersonating-----she was just speaking with flavor

  • I know shes a legend and blah blah, but I find the way she talks in this role so annoying

  • the whole stage musical is supposed to be a farce. this is the way that kander and ebb originally wanted it done...

  • I noticed she does this number a little faster than most Roxie's *cough cough Charlotte d'Amboise, whose monologue is like 10 minutes*, but she's still fabulous nonetheless!

  • haha I love it!! My dad and I saw her, Charlotte, on B'way and it got to the point we were both looking at each other like "ummmmm can you move this sh!t along",lol. Ann in this does an amazing job here!!!! Charlotte's performance is good, but she just goes on and on and on and on for as you said about 10 minutes, no joke people, and the does the song.

  • Ann Reinking always has been and always will be my favourite dancer. Just watching her makes a dark day brighter. thanks so much for posting this! :)

  • love love love her laugh @ 0:30

she's fantastic! this such a fun monologue!!!!! absolutely amazing show!!!! love it!

  • The quintessential Roxie, indeed.

  • Ashlee Simpson wasn't bad and she's in her 20's. Anne Reinking was the PERFECT Roxie back in 1975, in the 1997 revival though, she was a tad old for the role. I love her though - she's SO talented.

  • Wow, the pure beauty of the sinuous lines she paints with her arms and entire body just bring tears to my eyes. It is uplifting.

  • @Ladarzak -esp at 6:00. Amazing!

  • So well suited to Fosse's choreography. The quintessential Roxie.

  • Omg! im 14 yrs old and i use to be a big fan of hers when i found her in Annie! and there is no E at the end of her name!!! try learning how to spell! sheesh! lol

    -Samantha- <3

  • She's a stunner, but really more of a Velma.

  • Most Roxies usually are.

  • Don't forget that most Roxie's are over 50 years old. I haven't heard of a woman playing Roxie who is in her 20's and is actually suited for the role.

  • I wasn't really thinking age so much as height and presence. Most Roxie's seem to have too much star-confidence to pull off the naive nature of Roxie.

  • I saw Emma Barton in the recent UK tour, she was Roxy and is 28, Twinnie Lee Moore was Velma and is 22. They are part of a professional cast and thought neither are well known they are ones to watch for sure. Emma was briefly in the BBC soap "Eastenders" as Honey Mitchell.

  • Ann Reinking's Roxie is very cool. she's the best peformer as Roxie Hart,I think^^

  • Just went and saw Sharon and Carolyn in the Sydney production tonight! Wow - just wow - JUST as good as the New York production I saw quite a few years ago!

  • I miss Anne so much! I've gotten to take master classes from her and go to Q&As the past two summers and she's such an amazing performer and lady! Soooo cute here!!!

  • Ann Reinking is the greatest. No one can play Roxie Hart like her.

  • fuck she's fabulous.

and her laugh is LEGEND, not to mention adorable. ;)

  • She is wonderful... The "I'm a star...." part, when she delivered the dialogue so fast, reminded me of how she argued with Miss Hannigan (Carol Burnett) in a scene from Annie, when Miss Hannigan doesn't want ANnie to be going with her. lol

  • Wow... after seeing her, I completely forgot who was Renée Zell... Zell how ?...

  • Zellweger.. I didn't know that Ann Reinking played as Roxie! Whew! She was just so great in the Moive rendintion of ANnie, I guess she would be doing just great too in this onE!

  • Ann's wonderful :)

Hey, doesn't she do that dance move at 6:44 on Annie when she sings 'We Got Annie?'

  • I think you're right, when she's outside next to the cars!

  • Yeah that's the one :)

  • Interesting rendition, she seems a little older than I would normally view Roxie, she makes me think more of a Velma, personally. I kinda feel Roxie shouldn't sound quite as mature, isn't the character supposed to be like 24 or something?

  • not really. the original roxie, gwen verdon, was about 60 when she played the part.

  • Plus, Ann Reinking was one of the actresses to play Roxie in the original production after Gwen Verdon left the show. She's still the best thing going on two legs!

  • holy smokes! i knew her voice was familiar! omg, then i knew it! she was in ANNIE!

  • after seeing anne dance i can see why fosse cheated and then i watch how gwen moves and im confused again

  • Love Ann, but does anyone else find it odd that she's channeling Gwen Verdon?

  • all us roxies do

  • si algun latino ve este video... le robaron el pasito a luis miguel... en 6:39

  • JAJAJAJAJAJ, de pana!!! xD

  • nobody can move like Ann. Unbelievable.

  • Ann is fantastic. Greatest legs. Ever.
