  • I'm playing this =] But I don't quite do that much of an accel. in the first part. I discribe my version as dramatic but at the same time calm and composed. =]

  • Technical it's of course perfect but I really don't like that interpretation... sorry...

  • i'm currently learning this piece for an audition. your video has really inspired me to practise harder. :) thankyou!

  • I love that she just plays, as opposed to many female violinists i have heard (sorry to be stereotypical/sexist) who play very violently, aggressively, too much bow, hugely overexaggerate everything, including dynamics and such, and i'm not sure why...they often have a very strange take on the music, which seems like it's there just to set their performance apart from others...but i love how she just plays with her own style, what sounds right to her, great work!

  • The only criticism I'll give (you really can't find much fault in this performance), is that she didn't milk the high B @ 1:57 quite enough. I feel like that's kind of the climax of that theme so she could have lingered on that note a little more. Aside from that, really good overall. And she handled the mishap with her pegs VERY well. My nerves probably would have been shot after that.

  • Very nice style! Loved the more romantic esque playing! Good job!

  • I was at a performance a few weeks ago where a 14 year old played this piece flawlessly on a 1610 Hieronymus Amanti violin.

Fantastic piece. Your performance is fantastic as well! Thanks.

  • Pure talent.Absolutely marvelous talent.

  • i LOVE your style

  • my teacher just assigned me this piece. i'm excited to play it now!

  • Good job!

  • I like how you played it, 5 stars here. great job

  • A very good performance--and to the critics out there, it wasn't her fault that her pegs slipped. She tried to move on at 0:45, but the strings were too sharp to do so. Also, what else are you supposed to do because the piano's tune is fixed and takes a very long time to tune and get out of tune. You can't continue in a situation like that. And, her playing compensated GREATLY for the mishap. Wonderful job!

  • awesome job, but i feel the transitions are a little to sudden

  • Alicelizard, the recording may be tricky, but by the sound of it you can do with a better violin. A handmade one from China costs about $1500 and will do the job at this level.

  • In this recording, made in 2006, she used a 2004 luthier-made violin valued at $10,000. Currently she plays a 1740 violin by David Tecchler. The recording was made with a consumer-quality video camera using its internal mike.

  • this is absolutely awesome. If this was rock & roll you would smash your violin & destroy the stage after you finish.

  • It was funny that I was sneaking into my friend's music. He had this piece and I was playing it lol.

  • You are so talented. Good job :) I can't wait to hear more from you :P

  • That was great! I love how you just look so natural playing the violin like it is nothing. Great job. :)

  • This piece is really hard, and you did a great job on it! So powerful and almost perfect... I wish I could be so brave when I make a mistake... :) Great job!

  • Whow, that was unexpected.

  • i love your dresses. where do you buy them?? because i'm doing hoffmeister's viola concerto for solo viola and orchestra, and i'm wondering where to buy dresses for that. by the way, your playing is incredible :)

  • Any tips for the spicato/ trill section on the top of the third page? I'm having trouble making that sound pretty and controlled.

  • Comment removed

  • @sofiamacht OMG I have so much trouble with that! This was a year ago, did you end up working it out? haha

  • This is AMAZING!!!!!!!!! Great Job! I also play myself and will soon be taking an Overseas Tour and going to Carnegie Hall. Good job Please be our friend! Thanks!

  • gorgeous dear!

  • SO FIERCE

slap some peg dope on those pegs, girl

  • Love how the accompanist can barely keep up.

  • wow! I love your style!

  • you look like julia fisher jajajaja

  • wow that's really good... i just got the piece and idk how much i gotta practice to sound like that x) good job!

  • insane, how does she play those double stops and chords (near the end) like that?!

  • And it`s not the must difficult part in it:D

  • very good..

  • Again she is awsome

i got into the Sinfonia thanks to you

  • you have worked hard on a tough piece...

  • Whoa! She is one of the BESt i've ever heard.....

    Better than me......

  • One of the best interpretations I've heard. Congratulations!

  • I like it that she has her very own style. she doesn't copy.there is some natural awareness in her nervs' system that creates a great balance in her body and allows her to be very comfortable with not only violin but other things that she does as well. I believe that she is not one of those who has to practice 25 out of 24 hours a day to gain the technique. she is one of those who can read a book while playing the violin. she can think and decide in the most difficult situations.

  • @musique55 what do you think, what would be a decent pratice time? 2 hours/ day? 1 hour/day?

I dont know your problem, to gain technique, you have to pratice over a long, and have to use the right method, and not only fiddling around. If you are disciplined, you have used the whole time of practice intelligently, and otherwise you only bale maybe 40 %. meaing you have to pratcice longer.

  • @amrosik I think you didn't get the point in my comment.. sorry...

  • @musique55 its 6 months ago. after 6 months more experience, I have read your comment again, now I understand what you mean with "balance" and "awareness". I am sorry I misread it.

  • caeli you are sooo hott

  • Gosh I do love the ending.. Every time I hear it. What a finish... clever title.. you did the right thing by starting over

  • are you crazy!! this piece is pretty difficult.

  • not bad playing.

  • I don't think U guys realise how much this music is difficult to play, it's one of the most complex music for violin, just try to learn one note of this song and then you can criticize her

  • true that, but it depends on who you're comparing her to

  • I guess you're right if you compare it to things like Zigeurneweisen but polishing this piece is very dificult regardless.

  • GORGEOUS! nice interpretation. you've inspired me to practice more : )

  • This girl plays pretty good so far one of the best i've seen in youtube playing Praeludium and Allegro ..i love it =)

  • i actually agree. there aren't many videos of this however but it is still a good interpretation of it.

  • This girl plays pretty good so far one of the best i've seen in youtube playing Praeludium and Allegro ..i love it =)

  • 4:14 looks as if its being fast-forwared...weird she is moving so fast...

  • shes just that good....

  • shes just that good....

  • amazing emotion at 5:29. It's like you put yourself into the song!!

  • oh my gosh! you are one of the best!

  • Wow; thanks.

  • kudos girl!! I'm playing this too. they should make a remix out of the praeludium. because I think the 2nd chord of the 1st measure is the bestest chord in the world. :)

  • Love It! You play it sooooooo well! My favorite recording of this is with Joshua Bell.

  • Jshua Bell plays this like a sissy, if you want to hear the best interpretation ever made, you should listen to Heifetz.

  • I'm working on this song now and mmm, i think I've watched just about every interpretation of this song on youtube..and I still have to say your one of the best!

  • people like you piss me off.

  • awesome!

  • bravo

  • im in the middle of learning this piece now. its much nicer to listen to than to actually play, haha

  • =X I'm speechless!! this is so GOoD !~ O.O

  • hey nice intonation

  • Wow! I'd never thought you could use the words cute, wild and passionate to describe one thing, but here we go. This young girl is amazing! (And LOL the pianist has a hard time catching up sometimes)

  • I've never heard this interpretation with changes in tempo, slowdowns, martelé, etc. Very refreshing way of playing it. Congratulations, in spite of the peg unravelling. Good pianist - keeps right in synchronicity. Who is this young violinist? Kreisler music never sounded so good! There was'nt good recording technology in his time....

  • Confident and emotional. Absolutely fantabulous!!

  • i just started memorizing this piece and i love the way you accelerate and use your vibrato.

    good work! keep it up!

my favorite part of your performance is when you start allegro molto moderato. you really work the double stops well.

  • love your input on your emotions!

  • wow i haven't commented on this in a long time

    ur amazing

    i wanna learn this piece...haha

  • Haha I love the snap at 5:28. I'm learning this song right now and you are definitely my favorite version of this song on youtube!!

  • parabens alice,adorei a postura e a interpreação!!! um dos melhores videos que vi!!barabens!!

  • wow she acelerated on the first bar haha

    no seriously i like it

    well done

    x

  • haha this is funny, every one who comments is like a violin or music freak, myself included, lol

  • anyone gt the praeludium and allegro violin score ?? can give mi ?? send me a message at youtube to me .. thanks .. i really want it

  • a search in "virtualsheetmusic" provides the first page for free.....

  • Wow! The Allegro section is really powerful!! Played with flair and vitality!! Brava!!

  • not bad

  • Beautiful the feeling and emotion comes through much more here than in other versions in my opinion.

  • whoa there pipinho

no need to give hurting remarks now, do we???

our opinions should be voiced if they're for complimenting, but kept shut up inside if it's for hurting...??? don't you agree???

  • dry sense of humor, eh?

    keke*

    again= great job

    sick of me now??

    haha

  • ah!

    i c alice

    i like you name

    alice lizard*

    great performance

    my favorite on youtube

  • absolutely amazing girl

    keep up the hard work!

  • the reason i titled it "praeludium and praeludium and allegro" is because when my peg slipped, i started from the beginning, therefore playing the praeludium twice :-)

  • ooooooo i c! thatsss why! i never noticed... ur playing is awesome! i learned a lot just from watching ur video... the dynamics and technique is very awesome :D

  • I would like to compliment you on your interpretation of this piece, in spite of the accident. The recording quality is also very good.

  • best youtube version i think

just usually it's played praeludium and allegro

not praeludium and praeludium and allegro

    great anyways

  • Not bad, but she had a accel. at the beginning. there isnt one marked in my music.

  • Indeed, it's a horrible mistake not to play any Kreisler piece *exactly as written* because Kreisler himself always played his pieces identically, every single time.

  • maybe Kreisler himself did'nt understand the potential of his music! the only important thing is what you feel, nothing else matter...very good!

  • wow! You did an excellent job and really displayed your artistic talent! I love this piece, it is one of my favorite pieces of all time! You did all the double-stops with such gusto and strength!! So the peg slipped... big f'n deal, like it would never happen to any of us... right.... I guess those who cast the first stone... In any case, I definitely felt your passion behind this piece. I was moved by your playing. All the haters can just sit on their bow =p~ izzy

  • Wow!! That was amazing! My violin teacher just gave me Praeludium and Allegro to look over and I wanted to hear the whole thing. Sounds pretty hard haha. Those D strings haha, and I liked how you varied the tempo to your taste and memorized it, good job!

  • awesome. ;)

  • Amazing!!! It always seems more professional when it is memorized, not enough people do it. I hope I can play this for solo and ensemble this year. However I would faint if my peg slipped.

  • why do so many of u criticize her?? can u play as well??? the slowdowns make the song more mesmorizing in my opinion. its her style. u cant make someone change their style to fit urs.

  • beautiful vibrato. i feel bad tht ur peg slipped. the pianoist is good too.

  • Well done! Good intonation and cords. Double stops play with more firm fingers you kind of crawling you should put them from the top. Practice on connections between double stops. Phrases could be longer, too many slowdowns.

  • Plenty of tempo changes and variations in the piece, your double stops at the beginning could be more precise. I did like the part from measures 129 to 145, most excellent! However, your odd use of Martelle and the odd accent near the end did detract from the piece. Good overall tempo. Keep playing!

  • i am...

  • Poor! It is the nightmare of every violinist. I like because they do not put it of prodigy. Not we all are amazing Japaneses

  • omg. you're wicked good. i suck at playing my viola, even though i'm in an orchestra. :( i'm jealous. someday, i will be this good!!! hopefully...

  • amen!

  • I played this piece when I was 10......unfortunate about the peg slipping.....are you a music major?

  • youre just amazing

  • lol peg slipped?

  • goob job

    well done

  • OH, your peg slipped, I didn't catch that. I thought you just didn't like the tuning. K discard what I said before.

  • Yah well I think it is out of tune, you're the one who said "big giant out of tune cock".

  • Omg you should not have stopped. Slightly out of tune, but overall it was pretty good. Next time try to tune perfecto before.

  • Unforunate on the peg slipping...every string players worst fear! I understand completely.

  • :-O Amazing!! I'm learning this piece at the moment, I hope soon I'll be able to play it like that! I'm amazed at how you're able to memorise it and I think the way you move when you play is really inspiring. I'm jealous of your intonation as well :)

  • I love how you played that piece (not song, by the way...I get corrected all the time). A similar G-string incident happened to me during my All-State audition. Oh well. Those things happen. And I won't try to comment on you on what or how you should do something. You're the artist. I really enjoyed it.

  • wow it was brilliant:) i play this song on a different instrument...

  • Cool!!! I played this same song a few weeks ago at a recital!!! It kinda sucked when your G string was out of tune...but other than that you sounded fantastic!

  • Next time don't play so many open strings, especially when your violins out of tune. I would of played it differently.

  • good grief you're amazing!!! how old are you, when did you start violin and what grade are you in? oh, and how long did you take to master this piece??? plz reply

  • Kreisly wasn't a shitty composer. The music is in the notes: you don't have to try so hard in the Präludium.

  • OMG ur awsome its not even funny god ur my idol

  • you're amazing !!

  • open strings... eww... pretty good otherwise though

  • amazing... I don't have a private teacher, and my regular orchetsra teacher just gave me this peice to play for all state, I hope in 2 months I can play it half as well as you do

  • that was awesome!!! thanks for teaching me this valuable lesson about playing from the heart

  • Let's see some paganini YOU "hax".

  • BRAVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, well played, omg ur amazing, u make me want to up violin!!!

  • I just got that too. Wow, nice joke.

I am jealous of her skills. I'm going to go hire a teacher to specifically teach me that song now. K, bye.

  • praeuldium and praeuludium and allegro hahaha you're funny :D nice job. a touch slow though.

  • I don't think my post got through; that was AWESOME.

  • podrias mejrar en el preludio por que e una piesa muy delicada nesesita sensibilidad y e l alegro esta muy bueno soltura piensa en la musica no emn el publico de divertiras mas y sonara muy bello

  • bravo,bravo

  • on the whole, well played!the praeludium is far too free &rubato, and the character changes every bar (it's too much of everything in it).the allegro is elegant and graceful, i think it lacks a bit of character, otherwise it becomes very cantabile...what was that B on the G string doing there on the last page??? i almost had a heart-attack... also, it would be much better if you played the chords fatter, more towards the lower strings, all we can hear is a squicky E-string...

    otherwise, good job!

  • Um. It's not a mess-up-- the string completely slipped. She could have edited it out if she wanted, but the title is "Praeludium & Praeludium..." It's a JOKE. Lighten up and get a life. You keep commenting on this same 6-month-old video clip, lol.

  • why do you start again in the beginning once you messed up? I thought you're supposed to KEEP going, not spend try to "fix" it

  • Um. She didn't "mess up"-- her string slipped. She could have edited that out if she wanted, but she kept it in cause it was funny. Hence the title "Praeludium & Praeludium." It's a JOKE. Lighten up-- you keep commenting on this same 6 month old video.

  • I think her violin went out of tune

  • Interesting interpretation, much different than what I learned. I agree that the music must be played romantically but I also think that the tempo should not be "fiddled" with too much in the Praeludium because it drags the music. Just my own bias.

  • fiddled with? just wondering what you meant, did you think it should be faster or slower lol

i've also wondered there too, cause many people play the praeludium slow, yet i believe its marked allegro?

  • Well, it isn't so much the marked tempo that is at stake, it is the consistency. Her tempo is fine but she plays with it too much (play really fast then really slow then really fast, etc.). A little rubato can be used to good effect but too much is distasteful in this piece imo. Just a difference in interpretation.

  • stfu

  • good job! I love this piece very much. but couldn't play it, you make me want to try it again :)

  • how on earth do you get 3 strings at once? ive been playing this piece for ages and im working on the last piece of the puzzle - the ending. i cant figure it out - someone help me please!

  • very talented girl, and she's young. a bright future

  • wow...you are so talented! very beautifully done.

  • breathtakingly beautiful.. well done

  • You did an excelent interpretation and I see u chosed Midori's interpretation which is the one I adore (her interpretation of Praeludium). You heard it from Midori's CD named Encore right? I love that cd!!!

Congratulations once again and keep using that interpretation cuz Kreisler was romantic so we have to be romantic with the violin no matter if it said "Pugnani Style" we have to play "Kreisler Romantic Style" as Midori does!!! congrats!

  • ok it's 30 minutes before my audition & i'm watching ur vid to learn some phrasing skillz. i guess that means u win at life. .. :\

  • I love LOVE Kreisler, but I've always hated this piece - maybe cause I played it for so many years.

Finally, I've heard an interpretation that I like! This was a revelation. I'm going to re-examine this.

Great job. What kind of violin do you play?

  • Actually, she's at camp playing viola for two weeks, but I'll step in and answer for her. It's a new instrument made by a luthier named Whitney Osterud in 2005.

  • Im pretty sure that's the interpretation of Midori I can even say Im 90% sure this is Midori's style cuz I have more than 8 recording of this piece and since I heard Midori I preffered to play HER version of this piece. Soon I will record this one and I will up it.

  • Enjoyed it-- I know how it is when the strings play games! How high is your bridge? You hit some chords with such force you i'm guessing at least at 34mm

  • any harder and your violin strings would have snapped lol =D great preformance ...

  • YOU LITTLE FUCKER~ (YOur A bit OBese)

  • You need to learn some manners!

  • You need to learn some manners "wht1t3cr4y0n"

  • you're so good!!!!! especially when the String went crazy out of tune, and you can still stay calm!!! good for you!!!

  • horrible

  • as if you can play better! >=0

  • You play beautifully. I really enjoyed watching this.

  • That was lovely. Well done.

  • is a beautiful song and violinist

  • I listened to a few performances of this piece in this space, and like yours the best. You play this piece with passion and lyrically. Thank you!

  • kreisler is rolling in his grave....

  • pshht! you say that to everyone who plays kreisler >.>

  • This brings back memories.. nice job ^-^

  • beautiful~ You just made me love this piece all over again ^^

  • Hi,

Nice Job. You play with lot's of immotion and thats good, always play from your heart. If I can make one suggestion. You are a little flat in your playingand it is mostly on the G and E strings. On the chords at the end aim for the middle string and you will get all the notes. Great Job!

  • Hey! Good job! This piece can be a tuffy, very, very nice job. What was your inspiration for the recap in the praeludium? Just curious.

    Sorry about your violin...
