It's only because of the power of the Sharingan, that Itachi and Sasuke are able to defeat him. Imagine an Oro with the Sharingan :) Unfortunate that we never got to see him in an extended fight against a character whose abilities didn't directly play against his strengths. The Oro vs 4-tailed Naruto fight was as close as we got, but even Oro admitted that he wasn't nearly tired and was just starting to have fun. If only we got to see him fight someone like Jiraiya or better yet, Pain.

Orochimaru really was one of the most powerful characters to have ever existed in Naruto, and he's my favorite villain. While in Akatsuki, he considered Itachi to be the only member more powerful, which is saying a lot considering who the other members were. Itachi may have the advantage due to the extremely powerful array of abilities the Sharingan affords its user, but Oro outclasses him in terms of jutsu library and knowledge, durability, experience, and chakra capacity. @Ichigo4girls The Handicap level doesn't do anything, it just raises your combo's strength. With your handicap all the way up, you could do two hits, and take down basically a whole bar.

@reflexassassin the original Orochimaru didnt stand a chance and was forever sealled by Itachi's Susano into a Genjutsu type world by the Totsaku Sword, but there is another Orochimaru that is inside of Kabuto and is strong than the original since its Kabuto+Orochimaru

After that he froze him in genjutsu, By that point It would have taken no effort for Itachi to cut off his head or kill him in any other way. Itachi let him go on a whim. That confrontation was just Itachi's way of saying "You are too weak. Get out of here and don't come back."

@TTKChristo actually i do remember itachi being a pacifist i remember it very well itachi is my favourite character and he is an angel i remember and know all about him, infact the story of naruto was written in context to an old japanese story of the great evil serpent orochimaru the arch villian, the hero jirayia and his wife tsunade the slug queen, and the god of susano who eventually slayed him.

with that in mind they wrote orochimaru to be one of the strongest people in naruto.

@TTKChristo aswell as has some amazing abilities of supreme power, but lets not forget orochimarus immense power and the fact his jutsu knowledge is far far more vast than itachi's

orochimaru has more technique he also is a lot more powerful being in terms of his body whilst itachi is strong but hes not exactly superhuman he bleeds like everyone else, itachi is extremely skilled hes untouchable, but orochimaru is unbreakable.

so as i said they both have their own strengths and weaknesses.

but lets not forget orochimaru has a far more VAST jutsu under his belt in terms of variety and orochimaru is a far more powerful being in terms of his body, whilst itachi is so skilled its a joke hes untouchable whilst orochimaru is unbreakable.

not saying itachi is weak in terms of body but hes not superhuman so as i said both have their strengths & weaknesses
