  • La voix de Paul McCartney est la plus belle que j'ai jamais entendue (he is the best !).

  • beautiful....the day is done...now time for sleep... ;^)

  • The lyrics are originally coming from the poem by Thomas Dekker (1575 - 1641) although slightly changed in this song. It's a beautiful piece and the Beatles will forever be by true idols and my inspiration, thank you for uploading this, I loved the pictures, especially the ones at 0:43 and 1:10 :-) Cheers.

  • @yarden4080 what do you mean by saying "sorry for hitting you like button"? Do you not like this song or something? Do you think your too badass to like a song by the BeaTles? Well I'm 14 and I think they are one of the best bands ever! I don't care if they are from the 60s they are the best!

  • @Gumball727 Or maybe he/she meant that he/she liked the song so much, that he/she had to hit the button really hard.. Try to not be so negative.

  • im sorry like button, for hitting you

  • That was a vary good edit at the end.

  • Along with a play I did, we had to sing part of a poem by Thomas Dekker called Cradle Song. I thought the song was dumb because the tune was so weird. I just found out that Paul used the first verse of the poem for this song. (I recognized the lyrics when I heard the song.) He, of course, made it sound amazing! This is now one of my new favorite songs!

  • I started listening to The Beatles..... I never started, I grew up listening to them, the first song i ever heard was Hey Jude... My mom would sing Hey Jude because my parents were going through a divorce and custody battle, and was very painful for them and i.... Im now 14 and have thanked my mother since since then.... I love The Beatles....

  • He uses his voice to a similar fantastic effect in "Oh Darlin'"

  • Paul didnt write it, while it's beautiful as hell - it's a redition of an old lullabye :)

  • @jenniferlennette He did, although he was heavily inspired by an already existing poem written a long time before.

  • This song, you can't describe it to anyone because the effect is always different,

but the fact that it makes your heart just ache. That stays the same.

  • @beatlesmaniac42 change the settings.

  • @beatlesmaniac42 I think it's normal for it to cut off at the end because it's really supposed to flow right into Carry that Weight.

  • It has been more than a few years, I got out of the Marines in January of "04. But in all three of my combined combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq - I used to hum and try to sleep to this song imagining I was singing it to my wife. It just kind of fit I guess. Not saying I regreted anything there, just saying how I much I missed her and how I still remember it so well. She's great.

Smiles awake you when you rise, sleep pretty darling do not cry,

    I still sing her lullabies.

  • Oh wow. I'm a big Beatles fan and for some reason hadn't heard this song yet, but that was incredible. I got a tear in my it was that good! I love you Sir James Paul McCartney! <3

  • Lovely song...

  • This song fixes all the problems in the world. At least for 1:40!

I read somewhere that Paul got the idea for this buy seeing a sheet of music that had Golden Slumbers as the title that was written in the 1600s. He liked the title and wrote a song to go with it on a whim. That there is talent!

  • @creamtangerines

I most definitely agree with you in that first part. (and the talent part, of course.) Oh, and I love the name, BTW. However, you are slightly mistaken. (Sorry! Live and learn, am I right?)

The song is inspired by Thomas Dekker, a poet in the 1600s. But I see what you are refering to, as the poem contained the lyrics "Golden slumbers kiss your eyes/Smiles awake you when you rise/Sleep pretty wantons do not cry/And I will sing a lullaby/" Yeah, not so imaginative now, is it

  • @Jezuzlovesu737 wow... that's embarrassing! thanks for correcting my error, hopefully I didn't confuse anyone! and the "sleep pretty wantons" part is pretty funny!

  • my wife sings out nephew to sleep with this song.

  • I've been obsessed with this song ever since I heard it for the first time. . . :P

  • @inmylife15 i feel the same way you do

  • Thanks so much! Excellent video.

  • I love you Paul<3

  • Paul is just so beautiful in these pictures.

  • *starts to cry* t-t-t-this i-i-is th-th-the m-m-most bea-beautiful song e-e-e-ever!!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • my dad was always a HUGE Beatles fan, and when my older brother was little he would sing Here Comes the Sun, and he would sing Penny Lane to my big sister, but this was always MY song that he sang to me. And when ever I hear it I just want to start balling! The Beatles are the most genius songwriters EVER, and I doubt that it will ever change.

  • I just discovered this beautiful song!

  • sleep sweet ass, love me forever anal beads now!

  • esta canción es muy corta pero muy linda!

  • Beatle-mania isn't dead, EVERYONE loves The Beatles

  • The Beatles were gifts from God, their personalities were so different from eachother but yet they fit together amazingly, & when you hear a song from them its like their all sharing the same soul, its beautiful!

  • the beatles are beautiful, aren't they? you just feel this flood of affection/respect/awe, etc., when you hear their songs or see their pictures.

  • does anyone know what album this is on?

  • @Napoleon3535 Abbey Road.

  • @HolyRomanEMperor90 ahhh yes thank you very much :)

  • @Isis905 i'm soo sorry i put the wrong numbers in your name!

  • @Isis909 AMEN! you know it really breaks my heart to hear the crappy music that's played these days.

seriously our generation has ruined a LOT of things that were once great

but at least we have the things from long ago to remind us of the nice world that used to exsist

  • @littleemokid6

Yeah, we have ruined so much.

The 1700's-1900's were pretty much the best eras for music. They actually appreciated and enjoyed the BEAUTY of music. Now they've made it this fast-paced heavy metal screamo junk. Don't get me wrong, my brother has a screamo band and I like their music, but music sure isn't what it used to be.

But there ARE still people that appreciate music like this. You, me, and almost everyone else who commented on this. And millions of others.

  • i heard this today at dollar tree and i knew i just had to look for it...

  • i love this song sounds like a lullaby...sweet song :)

  • the beatles are the GODS of music!!!

  • @CazK88 how does this music only cater to rednecks?

i'm black and very far from being a redneck and the beatles are my favorite band

the beatles appeal to all kinds of people from all different generations

they were a diverse band and their music is still extremely popular

  • @littleemokid6

You are soooo right. I'm also black and LOVE the Beatles. They're my favorite band as well. They just don't make music like this anymore.

  • the only bad fact about this song is that it's fucking short...

  • beatiful song!

  • i love this song soo much:)

  • @curleekat1234 I am japanese. This song is very populer in japan.

  • ポール・マッカートニーの声は野太い!!!

    ジョン・レノンの声は激しい!!!

  • Get a person through some rough times, this

  • My favorite song by the beatles. The raw emotion in this song is truly touching. When Paul screams it's so beautiful

  • This song carries an unprecedented amount of emotion.

  • @CazK88 douchebag, this is a song amazingly full of emotion. just listen to the lyrics, the strings, trumpet, piano, and drums. it is beautiful

  • Ok, douchebag.

  • is there a problem with you? did your daddy beat you up while listening to this song? or do you think that it is stupid to appreciate great music in a time where it is not seen as much?

  • Oh no....nothing that extreme...I moreso had a date with your mom when this song played at the old El Pollo Loco restaurant! I never said this was bad music...but it only caters to rednecks.

  • @anita8896 i meant to hit the thumbs up button but stupid me i was not paying attention and i was listening to this amazing song and i accidentally hit the stupid thumbs down!!!!!!!!!!! so just for the record i love this song its one of my favorites :]
