I learned from friends and kept challenging myself by looking up new tricks on the net. A good skate would be one with a short wheel base and with wheels no bigger than 80mm 84A hardness. But you can learn the basics on any skate, provided you take the rear brake off.

This is very cool, i just got a pair of rollerskates. Where can I learn how to slalom, and how big your wheels are supposed to be. I got 84mm, should i wear them down a bit before even trying?

Where can you can buy slalom skates locally? Same with cones. I don't know any shops around Ottawa that advertise them. I'm using cups right with a diameter of 3 inches, is that okay to use :S? I'm also using fitness skates since it's all I have atm with 80mm wheels. And do we have an competitions in Ottawa for slalom?

I'm always looking for other bladers in ottawa but i only find like 1 or 2. And they dont do freestyle slalom.
