I wasn't a huge fan of the FMC brooms, but they are safer and more comfy than the old Wayne brooms from the 70s. The Mobils were my favorite. Most, if not all of them are now working on Long Island. One particular broom I see everyday is 20AN-129. Don't know which garage she came from though. Glad the see the DSNY went back to using Macks. Really miss the Crane Carriers with the DD/Allison powertrain.
I've seen some of the old ex DSNY CCC/Heil5000 RL trucks collecting in LINY where I used to live. But they were owned by Tri-State Group(former Five Counties Carting). I don't know if they have those trucks anymore! Jamica Ash & Rubbish Carting in Westbury, LI has some of those trucks too! It's too bad I don't live in LINY no more!!! cause I would have had some posts up on the Tube of those old trucks lol!
Now I'm starting to see the newer Mack/Heil trucks as the DSNY are now using Mack/McNeilus RLs. I think they're going back to the days when the LM 400 and the Dempster RK II were the most popular bulk packers. On occasion, I do see the very old CCC/EZ Pak side loaders. I remember them from when I was a teen. Used to be at BK.E18 somewhere near Linden Blvd. They are really banged up, but they soldier on.
Yeah, it wouldn't suprize me that some of those old Mack/Heil5000 RLs from DNSY would end up in LINY by now!! Do you know exactly what districts or Carting companies you saw those trucks at! Just Curious! I'm pretty sure DNSY dropped some of those old LE/Heil Formula 40/60 split RLs too! Sometimes, I wish I was back in LI so I could find that out!!! One day if I visit there, I will definately bring my camera & I will find those old DNSY trucks where I used to live & post them up lol!!!
The split bodies are here but I don't see so much of them. A hybrid CCC/Heil now resides in the Town of Hempstead. I haven't been to the city for years so I don't know which districts have what. Based on what I have seen from videos, I can guess that the department has a mix of the older Mack/Heil RLs with the newer McNeilus. Some may have a few oddballs like when I was at BK.E14. There were mostly CCC/Heil with three 'L" trucks, one OOS "H" truck and one gas IH/LM 300 for basket collection.
wow i mustve nade hypocrite upset lol he had nothing to say about what i educated him on, so he goes after my grammar hahaha. I always wondered what happens to guys who fail the sanitation physical. Sorry to hear that hypocrite
moron the sweeper works in 2 modes, travel and sweep mode. sweep mode is when u hear the engine reving loud and the brooms are moving. you are only in sweepmode when u start ur route. also in sweepmode u can only go 15 mph. he was obviously in travel mode going to his route
It says the video was shot on July 20 2008 which would be impossible because that falls on a Sunday & Bx 7 doesnt put out mechanical brooms or MLP trucks on Sundays. I would know coz I work that district.
very observant, and you are indeed correct, it should have said JUNE 20, 2008, my mistake. I will not bother correcting the video, but will update the description. Thank you for pointing that out, and again, my compliments on you acute attention to detail!
i find this cool

iTzSuBB, where and how did you learn English?

It is a cool video. Love to see more videos like this. I love seeing videos of New York moments with buses and city vehicles and old classic cars.
