RIP John Belushi. Such a funny guy. And old SNL is so funny. If anyone has access to any SNL stuff with Chevy Chase, I'd be very grateful if you posted it!!
Nobody can say that he wasn't a genious...but....but...but...can you see at 1:05 ....he really sniffed coke in the handkerchief.....that's the problem of artists....genious misunderstood
She didn't kill him. He asked her to give him a shot, and so she did.
Stop trying to place the blame where it doesn't belong.
This is reminding me of the rabid fanboy twits who keep trying to blame Courtney Love for Kurt Cobain's death. They were both drug addicts and eventually, the drugs caught up with them. It sucks. Just deal with it.
What's wonderful about this guy isn't just how effortlessly funny he is, it's how in control he is. He doesn't have to go crazy to get the laugh, he can surprise you quietly.
@MrVlaamseleeuw I don't understand your hostility or whatever you're trying to do with this comment. All I was doing was using a quote from a movie to explain my opinion that if either of them had to die, it should have been his brother, Jim.
@TheEgg185 Well I understand you inability to "get it" you are young what about 25? John was from another generation of talent where he wasn't allowed to use the "F" word after every other word. He had to be creative. Everything you see here was ad lib. SNL's skits use to be written by the actors and Lauren Michaels. Now they have writers. John was on another talent level. Watch his Joe Cocker impression. Paul McCartney once paid him a HUGE sum to do it at a party. Just a gap in ages is all.
John was a great comedian and a talented musician. The Blues Bros was an amazing masterpiece that can never be recreated by any other comedian/artist. RIP.
0:48 was definitely a drainage gag from cocaine. Factor in the nose blow, and more than likely, a thorough wipe down of residue build up...
I am only 33. SNL(and GI Joe) was something I looked forward to every episode. I only had re-runs of Belushi, but he was still fresh and alive to me. I remember the day I learned he was dead(years after) and I was truly saddened. I relived that sorrow with Farley and also Phil, although different circumstances.
SNL came about after sketch comedy like Laugh In & Love American Style fell flat. Lorne Michaels had a hand in a couple LAS sketches & NBC thought he was underutilized by Paramount & the creators of LAS so they snapped him up so he could create what would be a masterpiece. So unfortunate that SNL has fallen into the toilet these days. Will never be like the classic SNL of 1975-90 (most, not all of those yrs.) Can't believe Gilbert Gottfried was an SNL player.
@sabian630 Today's SNL like most of today's TV is shit imo. You obviously don't have to agree w/me. I prefer the older cast lineups from SNL's first 15 yrs.
Belushi is completely overrated. I wish everybody would stop hyping the early SNL cast. There were far more talented cast members through out the years. Murray is the only one from the early years who was worth a fuck.
I dont recall a single american comedy show that the british thought it was worthable adapting it and showing it in europe. It never hapened. The other way around happens all the time, comedy or not, Big Borother, American Idol, X Fator America's Got Talent, Dancing with the Stars, all copies of british originals.
Remember Ricky Gervais at Golden Globes? One of his famous gigs was simply introducing "Tim Allen" exactly! Who the hell is Tim Allen, only americans know him because he is a great example of mediocrity and praised by its peers. And the late Carlin is another overated comedian. Watch his youtube vids on religion, and then watch Gervais The Bible, the quality difference is overwhelming.
Certainly, I don't care about her marriages. A lot of rich men wanted her. She raised hundreds of millions and gave the same for charity, getting nothing in return. I could not imagine the difficulties that go along with her unsurpassed celebrity status, but I suppose she did her best. Belushi couldn't even handle his high, let alone do anything for his fellow man.
I remember Belushi imitating Elizabeth Taylor choking on a piece of chicken. It was funny, but look who has the last laugh. She outlived him by 30 years, and outclassed him beyond comparison.
@phill0329 wow what a coincidence ...I got on this site looking for that exact clip. I remember him wearing that crazy big wig and makeup - hilarious. Any chance anyone has that clip somewhere in their collection??
hey american: whos Chris Farley?? I mean...I heard of him, but he's nobody, specially outside USA, a typical mediocrity-type comedian only americans worship.
John Belushi is one of a very few, together with Seinfeld, woody, Mel brooks...and...sorry, nobody else really, that account for good modern american comedians. No Ricky Gervais, Sascha Baron Cohen, John Cleese, Hugh Laurie, Little Britain have parity with any US peer. Farley? Jim Carrey? John Candy?, those are clownish childish type.
@kmentt You're comparing two different cultures, countries, and mindsets. Not to mention your opinion. I love Ricky Gervais and of course John Cleese . I'm sorry to say your knowledge of American comedians is very dated. As funny as Gervais is , he is relatively a nobody over here. I will talk about what I know and not pretend to be plugged in to Brit humor. Mel Brooks made Spaceballs, his only redeeming quality, Carrey is Canadian. John Candy was funny. Here are some names you can look up:
@blooddonor70 yes, comparing two different cultures. Americans and brits, I love comedy, but I never laugh at US comedy, its so predictable, naive, clownish, teenager-like. I love Little Britain, Harry Enfield, Miranda, to mention only the current ones, and the only good american comedy I recall was Seinfeld in the 80s. SNL is an isnstitution of mediocrity, where dozens of writers struggle to write funny lines, its so artificial. The best example is The Office and how america needed to copy.
@kmentt You're an idiot...gervais produced the American Office. Ricky Gerais' shows (office, extras) are very influenced by American shows/movies like it's Gary shandling show, spinal tap and Seinfeld. You need to get over your hatred (jealousy I presume) of Americans because you are coming off like a bitter jerk off.
@kmentt continued, Carlin, Patton Oswalt, Dave Attell, Greg Giraldo, David Cross, and Daniel Tosh should keep you busy. Jim Norton is also funny. Farley was part of SNL, an American Institution, and because people outside of the U.S. haven't heard of him doesn't make him any less funny. It's something to keep in perspective. I mean look at the most boring game on Earth to watch, soccer, it totally blows compared to the NFL(real football),you people think watching kick n chasers is great!
@blooddonor70 by the way Im not Britt, and football, futebol, balonpie, futbol, calcio, or soccer is the most popular sport in the world, europe, africa, asia, and central and south america. IF "american football" was that good, it would had contaminated other countries. But it never did, despite american money and midia influence. We are forced to watch hollywood movies because the midia is dominated by warner, fox, hbo, tnt, metro, disney, but in my cable the best movies laughs are european
@kmentt I know you are from Brazil, again, these are only our opinions.The best example of American comedy right now is Its always sunny in Philadelphia.You would have to have a better grasp of our culture to truly understand. American media's financial success is unrivaled.You're not forced to watch anything(I hope)! We just produce more. NFL cannot be played by most other countries because they simply don't have the money, or produce the athletes necessary in size and numbers. They're giant!
@blooddonor70 You're right there. The two most popular aerican sports, basket and american football, are sports based on physical deformity. From the unproportionaly long limbs of basket players to the the thick necks of football players, that also affect their poor intellectual. You worship sports that are not for normal people, or that normal people dont have a chance. Like japanese Sumo, or weight lifting, I wouldnt encourage my sons to play them. Instead go for tennis, soccer, volley, etc
@blooddonor70 Not forced to, ok. Media is the most powerful, no doubt, but not the best quality. Im not saying Brazil is, dont get me wrong, its appalling here, one of the worst. I say that for entertainment, and comedy which is the topic of this video, but also for dama, I have a definition that always applies: The worst British show is better than the best american. Despite all the great studios,the money and the quantity of shows-movies-sitcoms, etc. Im comparin US against the small island.
@kmentt Americans don't give a fuck if the rest of the world likes American football. Americans don't need validation from the rest of the world...which is what drives shit heads like you crazy. You obsess on us...yet we don't give you a seconds thought.
@fab5sons Oops, i meant Dan's screen test! I've only seen a 10 second snippet on the internet but i can't find the full version..i think it's on the Snl First Season DVD. If anyone has it please contact me!
@blooddonor70 i didnt shit on him i just never found him to be funny at all... I didnt laugh once at Animal House....You shouldnt take it so personal....
@ItsMeItsOlive yes , hitting the wrong button is an act of stupidity. You got me there Jacko fanatic. i hope you didn't really laugh out loud that much, could be a sign of dimentia!
And again, you not only change the subject, but you lie when your logic supply is depleted. I am not a "Jacko fanatic". I am a fan of his dancing, but I did NOT support him at all during his two trials. Anymore fanciful tales you'd like to tell? Oh, BTW..LOLOLOLOL
@ItsMeItsOlive What subject got changed? I addressed hitting the wrong button,did you expect an essay or a formal apology? I'm sorry you are a troll, there.
@Rami22789 Okay thanks, YTspelling police, now I made one comment on here defending Belushi and all of you trolls just have to jump in! Fuck off, weirdo. I hope it's all spelled to your satisfaction. now get a life....
@Rami22789 I thought I told you to get a life! Fail sperm? Lame insult, I know you're here to defend your buddy olive,but two monkeys don't equal a man. See you at the zoo
@ItsMeItsOlive No,I just can't stand the nature of you people, it's your automatic inclination to involve yourself in every action or event, 99% of the time unnecessarily so. I couldn't feel picked on by the two of you, you can't help what you are, you should still have tails though! Then I would get some entertainment out of it. The thought of a half monkey-half troll isn't bad(laughs maniacally)LOL!
Then stop whining about being ganged up on. The troll here is you. You're the one using disgusting language, making racist remarks, and resorting to ad hominem insults when you're stumped. You gonna make another speech? LOLOLOL
@ItsMeItsOlive still going? you are a troll.face it. when was that you stumped me? never happened. get a life. ill even let ya have the last word,as all trolls require....
I don't blame you for wanting to give yourself an "out". I know all about the obscene private message you sent Rami. I guess you didn't want to post it publicly because you didn't want these people to know how low you really are, troll.
@Brewchief2002 - All I said was that most people don't even know this guy. Notice my use of the present tense. I'm not saying anything about what was happening in the U.S. and Canada in the 70's with a certain segment of the population. I'm saying in general, now. Most people don't know who he is. And he didn't have the "world" "by the balls."
Artie lange really did try and steal belushis whole act....,when the background guy says "john dont do that again" did he mean the eyebrow raise or turning his back on the camera.
if belushi was alive today, I bet he would still be at a-list status maybe won an oscar, I could imagine belushi being in a martin scorsese film or a coens brothers movie, I'll bet he would've hung around with the jackass guys he would've been perfect for that show.
@SLAM234 - I don't have to prove anything to you and you do not have to believe anything. Take it or leave it. I knew John, Jim and his mother before John was famous. The drug store where she was the clerk was on the corner of Roosevelt Rd and President St. in Wheaton, Il. May still be there, for all I know. Every regular customer knew her. She was a sweet, gentle person and her sons were the same. She was proud of her boys. There were many family snapshots under the glass countertop.
@SLAM234 - not. the claim that it's based on an existing place is a self promotion by the owner of the Billy Goat Tavern. John's mother told me that she often saw John and Jim do the "cheeseburger, cheeseburger" routine as preteen boys, mocking their father who owned a working class restaurant in Chicago, one of those places that was near a busy factory and was mostly open only for lunch.

But he had a face that could make me laugh by just staring...making no sound or expression.
What is it about success that sets people on a road of self-destruction? Cocaine's a killer, but others managed to kick that habit.
I would have loved to see a 62 year-old Belushi. Or a 42 year-old for that matter.

ItsMeItsOlive 10 months ago

blooddonor70 10 months ago
@blooddonor70
ItsMeItsOlive 10 months ago
@ItsMeItsOlive What subject got changed? I addressed hitting the wrong button,did you expect an essay or a formal apology? I'm sorry you are a troll, there.

ItsMeItsOlive 10 months ago
@blooddonor70
Aw, you feeling picked on? LOLOL
ItsMeItsOlive 10 months ago
@ItsMeItsOlive No,I just can't stand the nature of you people, it's your automatic inclination to involve yourself in every action or event, 99% of the time unnecessarily so. I couldn't feel picked on by the two of you, you can't help what you are, you should still have tails though! Then I would get some entertainment out of it. The thought of a half monkey-half troll isn't bad(laughs maniacally)LOL!
blooddonor70 10 months ago
@blooddonor70
Then stop whining about being ganged up on. The troll here is you. You're the one using disgusting language, making racist remarks, and resorting to ad hominem insults when you're stumped. You gonna make another speech? LOLOLOL
ItsMeItsOlive 10 months ago
@ItsMeItsOlive still going? you are a troll.face it. when was that you stumped me? never happened. get a life. ill even let ya have the last word,as all trolls require....
blooddonor70 10 months ago
@blooddonor70

@SLAM234 - damn, you got me. what gave me away?
jerseyjoe4good 1 year ago
@SLAM234 - I don't have to prove anything to you and you do not have to believe anything. Take it or leave it. I knew John, Jim and his mother before John was famous. The drug store where she was the clerk was on the corner of Roosevelt Rd and President St. in Wheaton, Il. May still be there, for all I know. Every regular customer knew her. She was a sweet, gentle person and her sons were the same. She was proud of her boys. There were many family snapshots under the glass countertop.
jerseyjoe4good 1 year ago
@SLAM234 - not. the claim that it's based on an existing place is a self promotion by the owner of the Billy Goat Tavern. John's mother told me that she often saw John and Jim do the "cheeseburger, cheeseburger" routine as preteen boys, mocking their father who owned a working class restaurant in Chicago, one of those places that was near a busy factory and was mostly open only for lunch.
jerseyjoe4good 1 year ago
His brother Jim does the same eyebrow moves. It's almost like seeing John again.
