all I have to say is all we know, all we believe, will all be changed as soon as we make contact with a non-hostile alien race (though we ourselves are hostile - so it'll be a difficult meeting to say the least).

@UltimaGodHades My response to that would be, if life could take a different route then it did on earth, why aren't there rich alien life on mars, jupiter, europa, ect ect this leads me to believe that maybe life on Earth is rare. Of course it could have arisen differently through abiogenesis, the mixture that happened here on primordial Earth might not be the only way to get life. BTW, if life doesn't need key elements, why don't we find bird like aliens flying in space?
