Severe Civil rights crimes are committed in Canada by authorities against citizens who try to use their constitutional civil right of not talking to them. This anti-democracy, authority attacks happen with lazer/tazer type guns which work through concrete walls of your home from outside or even the floor above. They rape women with these high power guns, also abuse their access to high ranking officials giving them one side of false story against citizen who questions their abuse of power.
@JavonnasMarie The song at 4:36 is "Early in the Morning" a prison song recorded by ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax at Parchman Farm Penitentiary, February 9 1948. Sung by prisoners : '22', Little Red, Tangle Eye and Hard Hair, with double cutting axes. From : Prison Songs. Volume 1 : Murderous Home (Rounder Records CD 1714)
@JavonnasMarie The song "Early in the Morning" is also included on a compilation CD from the Alan Lomax collection, called "The Land Where The Blues Began" (Rounder CD 82161-1861-2) which accompanies the book by Alan Lomax of the same name. Alan Lomax dedicated his life to recording and saving this music for posterity. Enjoy x
I had the pleasure to meet Odetta in Germany in the 80/90´s.. We were both artist, and both born in Ala..She was much older than I but she shared her wisdom and we shared a lot of laughs..The last time I saw her, she was in Frankfurt and she was being Odetta backstage..those who knew her knew she was a woman of many moods, and I loved and respected her for all of them.RIP
The short scene with the working men singing in the 100 degree Texas prisons and Odetta saying that those who sang were declaring they would live even though life was so hard and though they were separated from all those they loved and were innocent of any crime, were choosing to live as they sang.
Wow!!! This is such an inspiring video. Thanks for sharing. This is my first time ever hearing about Odetta and her works. God bless her and may many more artists emulate her. She's a beautiful woman inside and out & may her legacy carry on for years to come.

Is there an album with her singing the prison songs, like this at 6:17, with just the Capella?

I think the Interviewers questions were Green. He sucked as an Interviewer.
Odetta was always Above those who sat next to her though....But the Interviewer just was an Idiot..dozie questions..
