@SDayss95 Thanks! I had to play bits and pieces of what you heard as an audition in High School for the Jazz Allstate Band. Of course I never play anythign straight, so I was really embellishing it in parts, and then of course soloing with nothing the 3rd time through :) Again Thanks and Happy Playing :)
Amazing, amazing. I was a student of saxophone and I was forced to stop; it really remains in my heart and you are a really great player: your sax has an original tone which I do like a lot and I don't think it's easy at all.
@SVBEEQV Thanks! Its been a while since I recorded this, and I have now made some improvements in my playing, so I will have to try and get another uploaded soon :)
hey i am gonna start playing saxaphone and im gonna start renting one but in the future i am gonna buy one. any recomendations on what brand to buy? great job! sounds great.
@MegaGuitarmaster101 Well, it depends on how much you really want to spend. Some rental saxophones are fairly descent for the intermediate player which. I suggest to stay on that for a while, and save up for a nice professional horn once your tone is under wraps. I play an LA Sax horn which are going for a fairly good price used right now. But if you have the money to spend, go with either Selmer (Paris), or Yanigasawa horns. Yamaha are good, too, but I wouldn't buy one over the previous two.
@MegaGuitarmaster101 Also, I would DEFINITELY SUGGEST taking the mouthpiece that comes with horn, and throwing it back into the case when you get it. They are cheap mouthpieces, and it will make a huge difference in tone just by changing that out to a hard rubber, or different plastic one. Some fairly reasonable mouthpieces can be found online, and its all a matter of price and style that you want to play. I suggest starting out with a Runyon Mouthpiece as the are reasonable/offer good options
@MegaGuitarmaster101 In Conclusion (LMAO), Saxophones are probably the only thing on the planet that usually the higher price does mean its a better horn. Mouthpieces are hard to get right, but once you get one you like, it will make playing alot easier. PM me if you need any more help- Good Luck and Happy Playing! :)
I am taking a class in jazz improvisation and am learning different strategies for creating a good solo! I thought your solo in this song was great and was wondering if you might share some of your strategy (like scales or permutations)! Any advice would be very helpful!!!!
I play a yamaha custom Z and i love it but the reason i think yamahas are more popular are because of the price differences. Yanagisawa cam out with a great hor particularly for jazz players i heard its great!
I use as line 6 recording interface, cakewalk music creator 4, and a set of MXL condenser mics- 1 set directly towards the horn (unidirection), and 1 set 3 feet away (vocal style)- both are preamped through an M-audio preamp.
I use the effects that came with the Line 6 recordining USB interface. Thanks for Listening!
Well, instead of clickign reply, I accidently clicked Remove on someone's post, and they asked waht my setup was. In this video, I am playing a LA Sax intermediate-pro Alto. I am using the mouthpiece it came with and a 3 1/2 rico royal reed. I found this setup sounded best on this style of music. I also have a beechler metal mouthpiece #6, runyon smooth bore metal #6, and a runyon spoiler composite #7 that I play with depending on the genre of music.
I also have a LA Sax Pro Soprano and runyon smooth bore with spoiler metal #6 mouthpiece along with a spoiler composite #7. I play Vandoren #3 reeds on this usually.
Update to first post, I play a Rico Plasticover #3 reed on pretty much every mouthpiece now, and I have found that they are amazing to leave on the sax. You can just pick it up and play perfectly with them and not have to wet anything.
@ClueLou I guess I just never really got into the yamahas. If I were to pay that much money, I would probably go with something better, even though yamaha makes some really nice pro horns.
Thanks! Its a Jamie Aebersold backing track. It can be downloaded or bought just about anywhere. I am not sure what set it is a part of, but just check out amazon or something. Thanks for listening!
Heya do you have a headsheet for this please!?

yamaha is way overrated on alt sax!
i have an very old trevor james horn alt sax, revolution. and that still sounds really goed compared to most yamaha's
selmer is a good brand imo
